  • I do because I love vetivert so much and can't find a woman's scent that has enough of it in. At the moment I'm on Lanvin's but it is rather masculine. I might give Guerlain a shot

Guerlain Vetiver is AMAZING. They've been making it since 1960 or something and it's just fabulous. It was the first 'proper' fine fragrance that I ever bought and the first one that opened up and did different things on my skin over the hours... I love it.

The other vetiver one that I love is Creed Original Vetiver. Now that really has got some wallop. It's not for everyone but it's worth a sniff if you're passing the stand. Terrifyingly expensive though (around £100 for 100ml).

I wear loads of male fragrances.

Ambre Sultan is unisex and legend has it suppose to smell like female juices.
I call it sex in a bottle.

The last male fragrance I bought was MPG's Iris Bleu Gris on sale.
Parfums di Nicolai New York is fabulous and everyone should wear it.
Chanel Egoiste not the Plat one is amazing.
    Guerlain Heritage

I have never had someone rush up to me and say you are wearing men's fragrance.

For those starting out give Dior Homme a sniff, its iris and fizzes on the skin.

Caron Le Tre Homme is gorgeous so smooth.

Also you would be surprised at the men who do wear women's fragrance as well. Male skin is drier than female so it will smell different on them. The same works the other way round.

Very true. That was the thing about Glow - on my female friend, who also bought a bottle, it ended up smelling quite sickly and a bit like rotten peaches. But on me it sort of melted into a sort of rich, dark lemony scent which people used to comment on (positively!) all the time! It also lasted on my skin for hours, whereas she seemed to slough it off within about 40 minutes.

Conversely, she used to love wearing my Issey Miyake Eau d'Issey Pour Homme.
"I'm not a one-trick pony. I'm not a ten-trick pony. I'm a whole field of ponies - and they're all literally running towards this job."
    An utter berk, 2010.

Oh god yes - i know soooo many women that go crazy over Issey Miyake. Personally i don't like it but so many do. I suppose it is like the amount of people that like Thiery Muggler Angel (personally i think i take this smell in very differently as it always reminds me of cat wee, ewww. Lol):D

I do like Guerlain a lot and always have a spray when going past the counter.

What are people's thoughts on Vol de Nuit? Prompted me to read the novel, but it always smells on me like, dare I say, wee. Yuck. And I did so much want to wear it.

Jicky is lovely. I've got L'Bleu Heure, Mitsouko and Shalimar in the wardrobe at the moment. Plus my gorgeous Heritage.

    Just so expensive.

    Mmmmm...Habit Rouge is cool too.

OK - Logging off now saying " I will not purchase any more goodies from this site " Repeat one hundred times....

I've been known to dab a bit of Halston Z-14 on from time to time, and Lutens' Daim Blond, but I think a lot of the more masculine Lutens fragrance do suit women as well.

Orangeprose, I agree, Creed's Vetiver is absolutely stunning. Glow smelled like toilet cleaner on me though. I smelled absolutely rancid - unfortunately, unlike your friend, it lasted on me for hours. I'm sure it burned itself into my nostrils as I swear I could smelled it even after a shower!

I have found Dana's Tabu, described by one reviewer on Basenotes as " it should be used for chemical warfare ( but I like it and it's cheap ) smells on me anyway, like Carthusia's Ligea.

So if you fancy trying the Carthusia opt for Tabu instead.
  • Oh yes I definitely do have a spray of my husbands Guerlain aftershave. I have to admit that its a beautiful fragrance. i love the Guerlain homme - although the new Guerlain Idylle for females is beautiful too. I have just come across a new onlnie store - beauty-enhancement which stocks all the Guerlain fragrances. its an amazing online store.
