I had a 70% - 80% chance of getting an Initial Card and after filling out the forms and applying I had to wait 60 seconds then was told my application was rejected and that they would write to confirm this decision.

It's just a gimmick.

I had a 60-70% chance of getting the Gold card.Applied and accepted instantly.

You also had a 20-30% chance of being rejected.. and you were.. If it said you had 100% chance of being accepted and you weren't you'd have a point!

Is there a limit on soft footprints? Theoretically, as no really private details are requested someone could do lots of searches on me.

Having had the bad experience of using this card I would recommend to steer well clear. Your details are not safe and when fraud was commited using my card my numerous complaints were ignored. I am still paying interest on this fraudulent activity over 4 months later.
I guess they will try any trick to try and get customers they can abuse, because nobody would recommend them.
My advice DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM. STEER WELL CLEAR !!!!

ALF sorry to hear about your poor experience, but to try and balance an experience:

Barclaycard are the biggest cc provider in the UK to my knowledge. I have been with them 9 years and never had any problems. When I couldnt afford the APR I was on ~22%, I called and they dropped it to 6.9%. When I needed an increase in llimit they did and quickly.

Fraud: none whatsoever. They offer an additional online security system for online purchases. Fraud risk and responce by Barclaycard are probably just the same as any cc provider.

I also have credit cards with Egg, Natwest, LLoydsTSB, capitalOne and Mothercare store card.....and I must say that Barclaycard are the easiest and most plesaent to deal with.

Just my experience and so far so good.

Just went onto the application thingy and after several attempts stopped as it kept coming up with not enough details and I need to check I was on the local electoral registration!!! Funny i have just had my voting papers registration through the post and have been on it for nearly 20 years with the same council and have lived in the same address for over 12 years?:A

ah well back to the lottery LoL.:D
