I always keep a bottle of piriton in the cupboard in case of emergency - in an emergency i would take a double dose and dial 999 if tongue or throat feels swollen, or breathing difficult.

I expect tho that swelling is normal after one of those viscious ******* has stung you - nasty

Hope your hand is better now though :)

    Yes it's fine now.
I am just worried the children will get stung as they are litterally crawling around rather than flying and seem to be ready to sting all the time.
My youngest called me as they was one on his school jumper this morning when he was getting dressed. I am amazed he noticed as he tends to be a dreamer.
    Manners make the man...:D
  • Anyone know of anything i have in my kitchen cupboard that will get rid of a wasps nest under my bush (:p )at front of house. Local pest control at council have quoted me £30 to come out:eek: . Have used already one can of spray and one of powder but i cannot keep buying them, just wondering if anyone has a "homemade" repellent?

My husband is good at killing wasps nest,he buys the cans of wasp killer. When its getting a bit dark and all the wasp are back in the nest he sprays it,then leaves it till morning. Then he puts a black sack over the nest and tapes it up then you should be able to dispose of the nest.
  • We do have a poundshop so i will take a mooch up there tomorrow. I cant even see the nest as it right underneath so will be difficult for hubby to get at it, might have to push him in a bit;) . On yahoo someone said put diesel on them and then a wet towel so they die with the fumes but what with fuel prices lol!!! Been here 4 years and never had the problem before but they are not allowing us up and down the steps and my son has aspergers so he is fretting terrible. Might have to pay the £30 as it is not fair that he is worrying. Made me mad though that the council said that if we on benefits there would be no charge!! im on min wage so £30 for pest control is not something you budget for is it? Thanks all, will nip out when it gets a bit darker and squirt em again

If the nest is doing no harm then leave it as the wasps will die in the winter and they don't reuse the same nest. We had a bees nest earlier this year and we had to get someone in to remove it as apparently bees nests will just get bigger over time but wasps will die and the queen will fly away to start a new nest somewhere else...this will save you money.

If it's a small nest, you can vacuum it up ... you have to leave the vacuum running afterwards though ... try googling 'vacuum wasps nest'

    Hi Cookiewillow,

There's an earlier thread with some ideas that may help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.
