In all honesty, it'd put me off purchasing. Whilst some tenants may be very nice, if it's being used as temporary housing by the Council then the law of averages dictate that sooner or later you're going to get some problematic people through.
In addition, I just wouldn't want to live next door to a house whose occupants churned every couple of months (no matter how nice they were) - it gives you no continuity and no sense of community.
With that in mind, I'd get the hell out if I were you....“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Surely everyone buying a house enquires what the neighbours are like, so you'd have to tell them?
If someone wasn't forthcoming with info about the neighbours ("lovely couple, lived there for years etc....) then I'd dig further!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Do you know for sure that it is "temporary" housing and for "homeless" people? Some of the property around me is rented and I am blissfully unaware of who rents it to whom and on what terms. It is not my responsibility to understand the nature and terms of a neighbour's rental agreement. I may have an opinion on what it is but that is different from fact. If you don't know for sure then you don't have a liability to disclose it. If you do know for sure then you disclose it in a positive fashion - it is rented by the council, you understand that they use it as temporary housing but over the years that you have been there you have never had any problems. In fact you've met many of them and despite being down on their luck they are lovely people.0

Did you know your neighbur well before they started renting out?
Could you ask them what their long term plan is for the house? and if they are aware that it is no longer used for families but for a high turnover of single people?
It would be a shame to sell before you want to and then find out your old neighbour moves back in or decides to sell it rather than rent it.0 -
I think theres a common misconception of renters (fair enuff if its homeless etc all the above arguments stand)
I live in a row of terraced houses. 4 houses in a terrace, 3 terraces. Its quite a "well to do" estate and I actually pay more in rent than many of them do in morgages!! But my 2 neighbours must be the only 2 people in the block to "own" their homes. They continually moan about "godamm renters bringing house prices down"
Now im a respectable enough person. Both myself and partner arein good well paying jobs, no parties, only noise is our 11 week old son. So they assumed we'd bought - they were shocked to find we hadn't.
TBH in this day and age you can get neighbours you hate who have bought the house!! So its not just renters!!
We all pay bills and rent. I take care of the property as if it was my own so I dont see why I'll personally bring prices down just because im a renter.0
