Why do you need a new adapter? If the power jack socket is faulty then a new adapter will make no difference. Get a £10 multimeter and check the DC power output from the adapter, if it's normal then the adapter is fine.
It's much more likely that the socket is detaching from the mobo due to stress on it, by far the most common failure on laptops. If so that will cost you around £100 to have it resoldered/replaced at a proper laptop repair shop (no, not Comet).
If it is the adapter, then you can buy a universal one for far less than £52 on eBay or at a independent computer shop (again, not Comet).No free lunch, and no free laptop
