i know this is probably a stupid question but I am about to leave aol and go to o2 and I wondered whether I would be able to keep my e-mail address with them - does anyone know please. Please be gentle with me - this is my first posting!

When you stop paying for a service from an ISP then they can delete your email address from their servers and it will no longer be available.
A good solution that may be available to you is to sign up to a mail forwarding service. I have the option of two that are provided one by my (ex) university (I left about 30 years ago) and one by a professional body that I belong to. This has allowed me to switch ISPs several times without switching e-mail addresses.
Another way is to use one of the free e-mail providers (Googlemail, yahoo or hotmail) as your main address and set the account up to forward all incoming mail o your preferred account. You can also just use Outlook express, Thunderbird or Eudora mail programs with googlemail.0 -
I don't know if it applies in all situations but when we called AOL to get our MAC. We asked about our email addresses and were told that we could keep them.
Both me and my dad are still using AOL email addresses having been with Orange for 2 years. AOL offer free email addresses to anyone that wants them so its probably not a problem to keep your email with them.0 -

Wow, I didn't know this was possible! When I left AOL I set up a Gmail address and spent a good few hours changing my email with various sites (ebay, amazon, facebook etc). :rolleyes:0 -
Yes you can keep your email, When you cancel tell them you want the free email plan.0
