Advice for 9 months broadband...

  • Damn you're right, I just phoned BT and they said the line's been disconnected so we'd need to pay the £125 charge :( I can't afford that so it looks like it'll be mobile broadband after all! I hope it's a really strong area for signal...
    Thanks again x

Aren't BT doing free connection until the end of September?

Edited to add: they are according to the article on the main MSE board. Just click on utilities and phones at the top of the screen.

Subject to an 18 month contract (or at least it was when I signed up).

Not good for the OP having to take an extra 6 months (x £11.75 = £70.50)... it would save them money over paying the £125 though.

If its a block of flats (or even if not) do you think a friendly neighbour with wireless internet might be willing to let you share their connection in return for you paying half of the bill?

The neighbour idea is a good one. :T I knew the BT thing was an 18 month contract but you can transport the contract I think?

Wow both of those are good ideas - I could definitely ask if anyone has wireless that we can contribute to, and if not I'll phone BT and ask if we'll be able to transport the contract :D Thanks so much everyone!x

You can move the contract to a different address if you are moving.

All the best - I just moved into my flat in August and have got a BT line (12 month contract as there was already a line installed), opted for 02 broadband as I was a customer already and got £50 cashback for doing so with topcashback. They are now doing upto £100 cashback.

The wireless option is a good idea tho too.
