Well, my record doesn't look too good, but it *is* good, reelly trooly - I did the 3.5 hours, which takes 5 hours, had a thrown-together meal and wasn't really satisfied with that, so went out to the off licence (for bread!) and was given the bread for free because its out of date tomorrow!
And I did buy the tickets for July. The offpeak return is £55.40 on thetrainline. I did it in 3 batches: Southern Advance, cheap singles on thetrainline, and an oystercard offer. Total cost: £28.65, plus two oystercard singles for Zone 1 offpeak (£1.80 each) total £32.25. Hurray!
Erm, I haven't inputted the mystery shops yet - cuppa tea, and I'll do that now.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Tonight is for chillin! I finished 3 minutes ago :rotfl:I wish tonight *had* been for chillin :T
But it did all mean that I got an absolute mega amount done today, its true. Yet another cup of (really weak) tea coming up, and then I have to do something other than work before I go to bed - its a DVD of Firefly, beloved outer space opera of Joss Whedon, the Buffy and Angel creator.....
Wol, you sound like you're doing good, is that right? See you soon, sweets.

Wow, you really put me to shame yesterday with all that work!
I had a good day yesterday - I finally got my assessors qualification :j You have to do the job to show you can do it to then get the full qualification!
DH and I took DS to look at the grammar school he is hopefully going to go to - we have 11+ exams here. DH went there but was never encouraged by family to do well, basically they just ignored what he did, and he realised yesterday how much he could have done and achieved if he had tried, taken part more etc etc.
DS loved the place.
I pointed out to DH that this year he has already taken steps to "catch up" on where he feels he should be, but he still feels he wasted so much time.
Off to car boot with my mum today, have to be there just after 9 for a lunch time start it's so popular.
Hope you have another excellent day x0 -
Pippa, my (X)OH was never encouraged either, and sadly that feeling of never being pushed to do your best (or at least to try) never left him. He has had a lifetime of feeling that way, and no matter how much I tried to tell him that it is never to late, and that he can more than make up for a lack of school years effort, the underlying "can't do it" stuff stayed with him
Not everyone is a high achiever, or a fantastic sportsperson, or whatever, but if we encourage our kids to enjoy themselves, and do their best, and to just try and push themselves to test their own boundaries (as well as ours, which they seem to do VERY well lol) then that will set them up soooo well!

Don't worry, all, I intend to do the absolute minimum today - its a London day today, with 4 hours paid work, and that plus the journey means that the very most that will get done will be washing my hair, and *maybe* the washing up
Pippajo, I hope your DS gets to the school - it sounds a great one.
This encouragement thing - its a difficult one to cope with, isn't it .... I didn't get much encouragement myself, I was simply expected to do really well - I do remember being summoned to the staff room when I was 13, and being told off because I'd only come third in the English exams. Absolutely true! And nobody ever mentioned being happy, I don't think it was expectedI only ever started to think that was important when I was in my 30s.... so much for the good old days - there's something to be said for how things have changed.

That sounds like a busy day indeed! Absolute minimum today sounds goodDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Well done pippajo! And good luck to your son too. I'm fortunate in that I was always encouraged without being pushed. Although I've realised pretty recently that it was always assumed you couldn't really have what you wanted, and people like us couldn't expect much out of life... Taken me a while to get over that one!
Glad you get to take it easy a little today KC...0 -
It is true that it stays with you if you feel you could have done better.
His mum and dad didnt even care if he passed an exam, they still don't really understand that he is one of the best in the country in his job, in the specialist field that we are in (thats sounds really poncy but there aren't many people do it!) but we just don't earn loads in the process and they treat it as if its a hobby
I always got encouragement, but both my parents were teachers, although they never did my homework for me :A
Hope the roads weren't too bad for London today, and the car has air conditioning x0
