Thanks both! I do feel cheerful! Long may it last! Been over to Taxi's, but not yours, EH - I've just been building a giant master plan on OS - off to yours now, make sure the jaffa cakes are out.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I was just posting on yours, literally :rotfl:
Feeling good, happy and contented for a change - I was up really early, did scratches and whatnot, nearly all the washing up, shredding, decided to walk to the local little shopping area in the sun - there's an old fashioned chandler's there, bought a light fitting - I need the ring thing that holds a lampshade up, I was trying to update the look of the bathroom and toilet, and that ring thing broke in my hand, the fitting is so old. If it won't go on, I'll get a bloke in to change the whole fitting. Thats all, honest! More shredding to come
:kisses3:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Yes! Thats the thing, except that its for a ceiling lamp! I've bought it, for £1.99, thanks Taka! What I mean about getting someone in, is that the only thing I actually need is the white ring of plastic that goes underneath the push-switch in the example you've linked to (and thank you so much for doing that, by the way!) - it broke as I took it off. The stuff underneath, that holds the bulb in place, isn't in much better shape - it could be said its not safe, but I reckon it is if it holds the bulb..... we'll see. The light is fading here, and that room needs full sun because its a bit shadowed, so I won't try till tomorrow now.

Hope you have some nice plans for the week.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
:hello: plans for the week ....
- duck out of joining the local "cercle francais", even tho it is talking about the French role in the development of Egyptology (oh! just seen I'm actually working when its on, thats a relief)
- carry on with my master plan on the OS board - they focussed on wedding anniversaries for decluttering - paper, textiles, etc etc - and it spoke to me - just other people doing the same sort of themed decluttering, I suppose.
- letters and emails to write, some a bit ouchy.
- Wol is coming round on Thursday again, hopefully - I think I'll have to drag her out somewhere.
- London on Friday, groan groan groan at the travelling.
- possibly London on Saturday, if I have the energy - I've just heard that there's a seminar I want to go to, its a small group I go to whenever I can, been going for years. But I'm *really* not sure if I'll be fit enough.
And in between all that, keep on decluttering and cleaning the house so the estate agent can see it to value it! Ta-da!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thinking of genealogy, I've just been typing out some of my mum's memories - the child of a cousin of mine has been asked to ask an older relative about their memories - and she came up with something she'd never told me - the milkcart stopped outside their house, and she took a jug, and her little sister took the money, and they had to buy some milk. The milkman had a churn and he dipped into it with a long handled ladle! I guess I assumed that once they got electricity, which they did when they moved into that house, then lots of other modern conveniences sort of magically appeared. I suppose it *is* convenient having a milkman turn up at your door - but still, taking a jug! No refrigeration, either (mind you, *I* grew up without refrigeration!).2023: the year I get to buy a car0
