This one makes me laugh so much, but I'm an emotional cow so I can't imagine me reading this with tears and snot pouring down my face lol!

Yes, I'll marry you, my dear,
    And here's the reason why;
So I can push you out of bed
When the baby starts to cry,
And if we hear a knocking
And it's creepy and it's late,
I hand you the torch you see,
    And you investigate.
Yes I'll marry you, my dear,
    You may not apprehend it,
    But when the tumble-drier goes
It's you that has to mend it,
You have to face the neighbour
    Should our labrador attack him,
And if a drunkard fondles me
It's you that has to whack him.
    Yes, I'll marry you,
    You're virile and you're lean,
My house is like a pigsty
You can help to keep it clean.
    That sexy little dinner
    Which you served by candlelight,
    As I do chipolatas,
You can cook it every night!
It's you who has to work the drill
    and put up curtain track,
And when I've got PMT it's you who gets the flak,
    I do see great advantages,
But none of them for you,
And so before you see the light,
    I do, I do, I do!

    By Pam Ayres

    hahaha how true is that!
  • I found this reading on another website and totally love it, the band sound a lot like Green Day but write the most amazing lyrics.

two of us by mr t experience

Now there are two of us, instead of only one,
two times as many things get left half undone.
We're twice as half-asleep when the new day has begun
and maybe twice as on the run,
'cause some of them will still be making fun of us.
They'll say "the two of you will never be one of us."
    But even if that's true,
they'll have twice as much to do
when there are two of us,
and one of them is you.

They'll find the two of us much harder to restrain,
outsmarted by our impressive double brain
If one of us runs dry, still another will remain,
and it's twice as hard to pull the chain
of two of us, against a ton of them:
but two of us outnumber every single one of them.
    Two lives are semi-rough
with half the rent and twice the stuff.
There are two of us, and that should be enough.
    Look at everybody.
    Everybody's always
    falling apart or breaking up.
But the two of us never will be one of those,
and I should know-- I have had a run of those
    Our love's not guaranteed,
but it's growing like a weed.
    There are two of us,
I think that's all we need.

    My Promise to her Father

Years I had been searching, for someone in my life,
who would share in all my dreams, and someday be my wife.

I knew that she was out there, but not quite sure just where,
I'm so thankful now to know, she'd been gently in your care.

I will always be so grateful, that she was raised to be,
so loving and so gentle, the woman made for me.

From the day we marry, and as she takes my hand,
this promise I will give you, as she wears her wedding band.

I will always love her dearly, and treat her with great care,
I'm so grateful that I've found her, and a love that is so rare.

Thank you for raising a wonderful daughter

ok there were tears at that one lol
  • This is the last one, I love them all!

    I’ll be there, my darling,
    Through thick and through thin
When your mind is a mess
When your head’s in a spin
    When your plane’s been delayed
When you’ve missed the last train
    When life is just threatening
    To drive you insane
    When your thrilling whodunit
    Has lost its last page
    When somebody tells you
    You’re looking your age
    When you ordered the Korma
    But got the Madras
When you wake in the night
And are sure you smell gas
When the jeans that you bought
    In hope or in haste
    Stick on your hips
And won’t reach 'round your waist
    When the dentist looks into
    Your mouth and just sighs
    When your heroes turn out
    To be wimps in disguise
    When you’re in extra time
    And the other team scores
    When someone informs you
    There’s no Santa Claus
When you gaze at the stars
    And step on a nail
    When you know you’ll succeed
    But, somehow, you fail
    When your horoscope tells you
    You’ll have a good day
So you ask for a rise
And your boss says ‘No way’
So my darling, my sweetheart, my beloved, my dear….
    When you spill your beer
    When you shed a tear
    When you burn the toast
    When you miss the post
    When you lose the plot
    When I’m all you’ve got
    When you break a rule
    When you act the fool
    When you’ve got the flu
    When you’re in a stew
When you’re last in the queue
    Please don’t feel blue
    ‘Cause I’m telling you
    I’ll be there
    I’ll be there
    I’ll be there for you.

I can't even remember our readings and we only got married in July! The registrar gave us a book with all the redings in it and we picked our favourite two. We used traditional vows but the more modern ones.

    We had these:

    Wedding Day

Today is a day you will always remember
    The greatest in anyone's life
You'll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as husband and wife.

It's a brand new beginning, the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although they'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper ‘I do'

And with luck all your hopes and your dreams can be real
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts

    The Key to Love
The key to love is understanding…
The ability to comprehend not only the spoken word
    But those unspoken gestures,
The little things that say so much by themselves.
The key to love is forgiveness…
To accept each others faults and pardon mistakes
    Without forgetting, but with remembering
    What you learn from them.
The key to love is sharing…
Facing your good fortune as well as the bad, together.
Both conquering problems, forever searching for ways
    To intensify your happiness
The key to love is giving…
    Without thought of return,
But with the hope of just a simple smile
And by giving in but never giving up.
The key to love is respect…
Realising that you are two separate people, with different ideas.
That you don’t belong to each other,
You belong with each other, and share a mutual bond.
The key to love is inside us all…
It takes time and patience to unlock all the ingredients.
It is the continual learning process that demands a lot of work….
But the rewards are more than worth the effort…
And that is the key to love!

  • We're having Yes I'll Marry You as above

And "A Lovely Love Story" By Edward Monkton

The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, his cage. Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur’s cage with kind words and loving thoughts.
I like this Dinosaur thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny.
He is also quite clever though I will not tell him this for now.
I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur. She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice.
She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a dinosaur.
But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
He is also overly fond of things.
Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of things?
But her mind skips from here to there so quickly thought the Dinosaur. She is also uncommonly keen on shopping.
Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping?
I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. For they are part of what makes him a richly charactered individual.
I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur. For she fills our life with beautiful thoughts and wonderful surprises. Besides, I am not unkeen on shopping either.
Now the Dinosaur and the Lovely Other Dinosaur are old.
    Look at them.
Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs.
And that, my friends, is how it is with love.
Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together.
    For the sun is warm.
And the world is a beautiful place.
