Civil ceremony, readings and vows

Hi ladies (and gentlemen if any happen to pop by )

Would anyone care to share, readings they had at their ceremony, or are planning to use at their ceremony?

Same with vows, I know some are really personal, so obviously I wouldn't expect anyone to share those.

It's just to give us (ok ME lol) some ideas as to what we can add to the ceremony.

I really like this one.....it isn't too slushy but just says it all...



Maybe we are supposed to meet the wrong people before we meet the right one, so when they finally arrive we are truly grateful for the gift we have been given.
Maybe its true that we don't know what we have lost until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we're missing until it arrives.
Maybe the happiest of people don't have the best of everything, but make the best of everything that comes their way.
Maybe the best kind of love is the kind where you sit on the sofa together, not saying a word, and walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you ever had.
Maybe once in a lifetime you find someone who not only touches your heart but also your soul, someone who loves you for who you are and not what you could be.
Maybe the art of true love is not about finding the perfect person, but about seeing an imperfect person perfectly.

This one makes me laugh so much, but I'm an emotional cow so I can't imagine me reading this with tears and snot pouring down my face lol!

Really like this one, but I have 3 children (1 to H2B) so it wouldn't be good for us.

Would be lovely for a Mum with one daughter though!


Today is the wedding of more than just two.
We always do something far more than we do.
Today is the birth of a new family:
One that will fashion
The one I will be.
And so as we welcome
A new man and wife,
I welcome a father whose love changed my life.
I welcome a future together as three:
My mother and stepfather
United with me.

I wrote personal vows last night and h2b loved them, we are going to have a little secret ceremony tomorrow after the legal bit, I incorporated all the stuff that we have in common (which is freaky in a twilight zone kind of way).

Here are some soppy readings, will be sobbing in a minute!

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.

A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.

My Promise to her Father

Years I had been searching, for someone in my life,
who would share in all my dreams, and someday be my wife.

I knew that she was out there, but not quite sure just where,
I'm so thankful now to know, she'd been gently in your care.

I will always be so grateful, that she was raised to be,
