just received parking ticket with incorrect info

i parked on double yellows today outside a shop whilst nipping in for a paper.
as i came out a police man was issuing me a ticket. (fixed penalty notice £30)
i've thoroughly checked the ticket & have found that he has put the incorrect location of where my car was.
the address he has put relates to the next street which has a completely different name, is this grounds for me to appeal the ticket??
thanking whoever for any input
ps. this was in welshpool under Dyfed Powys police.

The general advice with police fpn is to bite the bullet and pay. The next stage would be the magistrates court and even with details such as this its almost certain to be a conviction. Besides if the council had caught you it would have been a lot dearer.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Unless of course the street on the ticket doesn't have any double yellow lines.........................0

I dont see why you cant dispute the ticket if the wrong information was on it.
That was me being helpful.
My next thought is what i always feel when i see other peeps parked on double yellows = What makes you think you are more special than all the other people who have to find a car park, possibly pay for a park and walk to the shop,
Its arrogant. full stop.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As I understand it (and I could be wrong) the fpn is just a notification of the offence. if you query it they are able to just change to the correct road when it goes before the beak.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

My understanding of the relevant legislation and procedure is as Peter says.
I suppose there could be some doubt as to the PC's/TW's/PCSO's powers of observation but, given the circumstances, I would not advise disputing.
Even if, as someone suggested, there was no restriction on the road mentioned --- then it remains more of a 'notification' as Peter described. They can probably change the details under the 'slip rule'. The actual prosecution, if necessary, is what counts and by then it will most likely be correct.

thanks Neil b , i was afraid of that, i've been googling everything i can find & apparently a policeman is able to use the slippage rule whilst a TW or council etc can't.
ah well, things could be worse

just to let you know, these double yellows are outside a spar which does not impact on any access or hinder anyone etc. in a welsh town where everyone parks there due to no TW's etc & i was just unfortunate enough to encounter a jobs worth newly badged cop who was being anal whereas all the other ones just ignore people parking here. so i DON'T think i'm better than everyone else :P0 -

So what if there was a fire in store and they needed an ambulance to get access to the front of the shop?
Or what if someone had a serious accident in store and the ambulance has to get as close as possible?
The ocuncil don't just paint double yellow lines on the road for decoration you know. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -

there's 100yds of double yellows outside the shop which is being constantly used by customers who have a view from inside the shop whether they are restricting emergency service access , where coincidently they would be one of the first to know of the terrible accidents & fires that you seem to think yellow lines indicate could happen at any time on the premises, does this just apply to Spar shops or does this "Final Destination" effect happen with other chains too? :P
p.s. since when were councils sensible??0 -

You honestly think that if they see someone fall over in the store their first thought will be 'oh god I must move my car ASAP'?
No last time I checked it wasn't just spars that could have a fire/accident believe it or not.
So why do you think the double yellow lines are there? Decoration? For the hell of it?
Say for instance you and your daughter were shopping in the Spar. Your daughter falls over and needs an ambulance. People are blocking the front of the store so the ambulance has to park round the corner. All this time your daughter is in pain wondering where the ambulance is. When the paramedics turn up they say 'sorry we would have been here quicker but some idiots parked on double yellows'. I bet you wouldn't stick up for the people parking on them then! Although saying that your car would probably be one of them. Its ok though don't worry, you'll go and move it before the ambulance turns up and leave your daughter in pain.
Basically, double yellows are there for a reason. Don't park on them! And if you decide '!!!!!! it, the rules don't apply to me' then don't moan about it and try and wriggle your way out of a fine when you get caught! This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0
