Hey guys,
Hope you can help me! Got Outlook 2000 and my email is with BT. Yesterday I couldn't send any emails and today the problem is still there! Can receive them no problem but sending just isn't happening!
I get the error, The SMTP server responded with an error. (Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', SMTP Server :'mail.btinternet.com', Error Number: 0x800ccc60)
Have tried looking it up on Google and done what others have suggested, ie re-creating the account but nothing is bloody working!
Can anyone help?

It might not be a problem with Outlook. Could be, or looks to be something wrong at BT's end.
Might be worth trying another POP client though. Outlook is a bit heavy for POP, it's really meant to be used with an Exchange server, which is why it works well within a business.
Thunderbird is quite light and easy to setup. Or if you use Opera (great browser) it has a nice, easy to use and light email client built in."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I agree with Aladi.. Mozilla Thunderbird is great! It can do so much more than Outlook. A friend converted me and now i'm hooked! You should definately.. https://www.getfirefox.com0

As someone else suggested, on your "Outgoing Server" tab in the "Tools/Accounts" option, make sure you have ticked the "My outgoing server (STMP) requires authentication" and check the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Make sure you have supplied a valid password with your user id.0

Is it really worth posting such an unhelpful comment? Typical Mac lover, this isn't OS related. It's email/email client related.
I relation to another comment I wouldn't say Thunderbird "can do so much more". It is however more suited to the average home user, especially if you don't have to integrate into other Microsoft services."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

No not bitter, my system runs perfectly (and I own and use Apple hardware too). I just find such posts annoying as they aren't helpful in the slightest. And it's narrow minded to assume that all problems will dissapear just by getting an Apple."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I've been usingPocomail for years, much better than outlook and imho Thunderbird. Its easy to setup and customise.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
