anyone know if this is ok for sensitive skin? baby 5 months old & has mild excema so a bit wary of what i'm using QUOTE]

i just bought soltan kids 50+ ultra for my 8 month baby - just noticed it says 18 months and over:mad: she has mild excema - i think i'll take it back and look for something unperfumed. i would recommend the long sleeved uva protection swim suits aswell as:cool:

For my daughter I have always used Soltan baby 50+ and it is definitely the best that I have found, she is fair skinned and blond and has never (touch wood) burnt with it over the last five years - although I now have to remove the label because she says she is not a baby!!. I have found other parents willing to buy our left overs when on holiday because their children have burnt with other makes. I am not saying this is the best for everyone but it is the best I have found and won't use anything else when abroad on her (various Caribbean and northern Africa etc). We use the kids and sensitive ones in this country with no problem.

I used P20 last year in Tenerife & felt terrible as my son blistered & looked like a lobster afterward. Would never used P20 again.
I did however go into Superdrug & buy Piz Buin, unfortunately the girl on the till didn't know how to work out 10% & made me feel like a penny pincher for using the voucher. Still I braisened it out while she called a colleague to work it out for her. ( branch was Kingswood, Bristol).
May go back again next week with another voucher, see if she's brushed up on her maths skills yet.

anyone know if this is ok for sensitive skin? baby 5 months old & has mild excema so a bit wary of what i'm using - at mo just keeping him covered & in shade but won't work all summer! sounds good for ds1 though as playgroup won't apply suncream so i need something that lasts from when i do it at 9am till playgroup finishes at 12 noon. think there's a savers in morley. where i've been today. pah!

Used P20 for years with no problems, I always burned before and NEVER tanned until I found this. However, it does discolour clothing and towels, although wahes out.
The last 2 years We have used Ultrasun, always bought it on the plane and worked even better than P20 with NO staining. They only have factor 20 on the Plane. But we have discovered that they sell it in John Lewis and at the moment, factor 28 for sensitive skin, those prone to prickly heat and children is £15.99 for 100ml gel with 50ml FREE! Online at Ultrasuns own site, 150ml is £21.95. Bought this today, but not tried this actual one before.
40 mins binding time, but NO restrictions on how much time you can stay in the water which is what put me off Piz Buin. We are in all day with out 3 year old, and our very fair skin has never ever burnt.
Protects against BOTH UVA and UVB

My sister asked for it in Boots a year or two ago and was told they have stopped selling it because of no UVA/UVB protection.

Just to clear this up, P20 has UVB protection, but no UVA protection, which they claim will allow you to get a tan safely.

    From their website:
The active ingredient in P20 is PABA (p-aminobenzoic acid), which is a natural substance found in the human body - it is also known as Vitamin H. When P20 is applied to the skin, the p-aminobenzoic acid is absorbed and binds to the keratin in the skin, a process that takes 90 minutes. Amazingly P20 gives high protection (SPF 20) against the sun’s burning UVB rays but still lets through some UVA rays to allow you to tan. Result - a golden tan without the burn. The protection factor (SPF) is an expression of how many times longer you can stay in the sun (following the correct instructions of a 90-minute waiting time) than if you had no protection.

    Cheers

In my local Boots today there were lots of BOGOF's on SPF products. I saw a "kids" SPF pack. Basically it's two bottles so a two stage application process, but offers SPF 15 and by an large appeared to me to contain the same active ingredients as the "adult" SPF.

On the basis that a kids SPF must surely offer the same if not better protection than the adult version and coupled with the fact that the packs were selling for £2.49 on BOGOF too, I had no hesitation in buying it for myself.

It was Boots own Soltan range. I couldn't see a drawback. Don't know if it was a pricing error - my OH used to work for Boots and said that if their price was wrong on the computer then it would print labels out wrong too.

    Hiya
Thank you for recommending ultrasun as an alternative to p20.
I have used p20 before but it does stain clothing/towels. I couldn't wash it out, I tried Persil, Fairy, Ariel detergents and Vanish, Ace, bleach to name a few. Anyway i digress from my original intention of asking you something :D .....does ultrasun stain clothing?
    Thank you in advance

Does this stuff go off or is it ok to keep for 2-3 years once opened?

Couldn't speak for Ultrasun, but I do know that the Piz Buin once-a-day lotion doesn't stain.

I can reinforce that Piz Buin once a day 30 does not stain.
