No response from Lloyds TSB re bank charges

I wrote weeks ago to LLoyds TSB using the letter formats on the MSE site. In one envelope I put two letters, one requesting comprehensive list of all default charges etc taken from my bank account. The other was requesting default charges etc from my Lloyds TSB credit card. I put in one cheque for £10.00 to cover both. The address I sent it to was
Data Team (DSAR Unit)
Drop Zone C49
Charlton Place
Andover
Hampshire SP10 1RE

As far as I can see they haven't cashed the cheque yet. What do I do now, do they normally take ages to get back? Did I send it to the right address? Should I have included both letters? Many thanks.

Banks/lenders have exactly 40 days from receipt of your letter to comply with your request for a SAR. If they have exceeded the 40 day period, then complain to the Information Commisioners office:

Did you post your letter on recorded delivery? You ought to have. You have sent it to the right address - and its okay to include both letters, in one envelope.
  • No I didn't post recorded delivery but did post on 22nd August so I guess I haven't had my 40 days yet. It's a relief to know it was ok to put two letters in one envelope and it was the right address so thanks for that reassurance.

Did you write the name of the bank on the address as well because the address is an internal address rather than one used externally? If you didn't then I suspect it will not have got there.

  • I'm certain sure I put 'Lloyds TSB' at the top of the address but I did not write a return address on the back.

Does anyone know the track record with Lloyds TSB as to what they do once they've received a request for a refund of their charges?

Give them a call and ask them if they have received the letter.

  • Any ideas what their phone number might be for that particular address? Thanks

Have they cashed the cheque or postal order yet for £10?
Let's go through this logically first.

  • No, they have not cashed the cheque for £10 yet.

  • To be honest, cancel the cheque and hand a letter into the local branch to pass onto their Data Protection Team, take the business card of the person you hand the letter to.

  • Yes, that's probably a better idea thanks. You need to be very dogged in these attempts to get any money back!
