40GB download limit - is that alot?

Hi,

I've just signed up for the £21 Talk Talk deal (I was already with Talk Talk paying £20 for my broadband plus landline calls, line rental was previously BT). Anyway, some guy has just knocked on my door telling me horror stories about how much money it is going to cost me if I go over the 40GB download limit that comes with the deal (obviously the guy is trying to get people to switch). Is 40GB alot? I don't download music or films and generally just surf the net and download documents for work. Am I likely to go over the limit?I'm sure my usage, can't be anything like 40GB, but he has made me a bit paranoid!:undecided

Hope someone can reassure me!
Sarah

If you don't use p2p (which you can't on talk talk anyway) then you should be fine.

I am a heavy downloader and last month was my largest downloading month - only 32GB.

40gb is eight times my monthly allowance with Madasafish and I don't get anywhere near exceeding it. Just make sure you have a good firewall and anti-virus programme installed to stop spammers leeching off your account allowance.

    you should be fine,

if you do happen to go over the companies arent that bad about it usually - theyll tell you youve gone over but wont charge you extra, if you keep on going over tho they'll just 'recomend' you go onto a higher package

    just checked talktalk website
If you only occasionally have very high usage, we're unlikely to be concerned unless it becomes a regular occurrence. If this does happen then we'll get in touch to help you find ways to reduce your usage.

Ultimately, if your usage still remains excessive despite our attempts to help you reduce it, we may restrict your general Internet service throughout the entire day. A last resort will be to suspend your service and possibly close your account.

We definitely don't want to do that, TalkTalk is all about giving our customers the best possible phone and broadband service and with your support we'll work with you and hopefully avoid this from happening.
