Some people get together with other homeschoolers for some subjects to get around not being as good in all the subjects. Sending Rose to school would not mean you were letting her down and there is still loads you can do for her without home educating. My mum taught me to read, wrote, tell the time, add and subtract and do long division and multiplication. She also did music theory up to grade 5 partly because my brothers learnt musical instruments and it meant she was knowledgeable enough to be able to help them. Then there are all the things which you don't get taught about in school like managing your finances and running a household and extra curricular things.angela6834 wrote: »Susan, I really think people that home school are amazing. I sadly feel as tho i dont have the experience in the necessary subjects to do this myself, which in turn makes me feel as tho im letting Rose down by not able to provide this for her.
Sadly the way the system works (with things like league tables and statistics about how many children reached a given standard) means that there is more of an incentive to help those who perform slightly below average to improve than those who are at the bottom end. There is also incentive to help the most able because it makes the school look good whereas helping the weakest children doesn't even though helping the weakest children probably makes a bigger impact on their lives. (I actually used to ignore what I was supposed to do on my final teaching practice and always worked with the bottom group.)angela6834 wrote: »I think state education is great if you have a bright child but is sadly lacking if you have a child which will struggle. I had one of each and they have both very different experiences of school.
It took me ages to work out that "denail" was a typo and not some special code I didn't know.We still haven't decided what to do, I'm still in denail about being in our house, we were supposed to be in a 3/4 bed semi now not still in the damp terrace
I reckon so
Boots are great for vouchers. We got vouchers for free disposable cameras and they were buy one get one free which meant we got twice as many. We also got vouchers for baby rice and baby food when there was a 20% sale on baby things. (This was before we decided to do BLW.) Our 50% off baby rice voucher meant we got 70% off and we actually got paid 20% of the price of a jar of baby food to take it away because we had a free jar voucher and it still knocked the 20% off.chopsticks wrote: »Talking of Boots, my main reason for going was to collect my changing bag. Over the past couple of months, Boots has sent me the changing bag voucher, plus a £2, a £1 and a 50p voucher for money off Pampers nappies. So, I bought one pack of nappies for £5.98, got the free changing bag plus got £3.50 off the nappies. I wasn't sure if Boots let you use more than one voucher but they did

guess what...My friend who has a Charlie same age as Chris, is due nxt month - she's having a girl. I have not at all been trying to persuade her :whistle:sami wanted me to call erin lola so i would have a charlie and lola lol!
It does feel really good to get to groups but so many are aimed at babies and I don't want to put Chris in the creshe. Its not like having a toddler and newborn i unusual, why shouldn't I be able to do joint activities ...
*hugs*
One of my colleagues was asking earlier if I'd been to many groups but I said no cos we were told to avoid them because of the swine flu thing. Think I might as the nurses again on Monday if they think we can start going now since Rhys has had a while to prove he's stronger now.

I put her in ones with feet for night time and footless ones for daytime usually... although she has a couple of velour ones that I use for daytime too...chopsticks wrote: »That is gorge!
I'm not sure I really "get" footless baby grows. We were bought a fabulously funky one the other week (this one but in pink and purple stripes) but I thought it was a daytime romper suit (because it didn't have feet) but someone told me it was a sleepsuit.
Do you put socks on your baby's feet when they wearing footless ones?
Now if you'll excuse me, my sticky toffee cake is ready... :drool:A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
