Are our babies not meant to have egg til 12 months, or is it 6?
I've just had an urge to make eggy bread for me and Violet.

Hopefully 6! Elijah seemed fine with egg a number of times well before 12 months.
OH is making them both eggy bread as I type, strange synchronicity :T

how funny - I'm just letting the eggy bread (or french toast as we call it) cool down before letting LO eat it for lunch :D I made extra for me too :D

Also making curry sauce (from Curry queen's recipe on the os boards) which is amazing and worth the faff, but it's making the whole kitchen smell of onions! I've hidden away the washing in the bathroom so it will escape the smell hopefully. Feeling all domesticated today :D

    :)Still searching .....:)
  • hiya ladies -- im jumoing in here beore i catch up, as i need some advice. ive posted on the OS board aswell, but trust you guys more.....

went and bought myself a slow cooker on sunday -- £7 from Asda. monday went and got 2 lamb shanks then started looking for recipes, so today I have:

Browned lamb shanks in a little oil
sliced carrot, leek, onion and mushrooms
made lamb stock from stock cube, threw everything in the slow cooker.
Added 2 tablespoons of tomato puree, about 50g of barley, and a bouquet garni.....now ive left it on low.

does anyone have an idea hoow long it should take on low (ideally would like to sit down to meal around 5pmish) - should i turn it to the high setting? and also, does what i have done sound ok?? :S

first time using slow cooker, and have never ever cooked lamb before, so am nervous!!!!!!
    Carla-Farla!! :)

Haven't read back either but got a Q

Noticed last night the DS is broken, there is a snap in the hinge, so the screen isn't stiff anymore and just flops back and forth, originally I thought Keira had broken it but looking online it's a very common fault in the DS. Now I found the receipt it's a bit faded and a bit has been ripped off the bottom, but you can see the date, where it was bought from and what the item was, it was bought on boxing day so it will still be under guarentee yes? Do I just take it back to gamestation, shout about sales of goods act and demand a new one?

Carla I'm no expert but if I remember what my mum used to do, low is the setting she used when she put it on before work to be ready for tea so 8am for eating around 5pm
I think high takes about half the time. I'm sure someone will comfirm/deny this soon :)

Sounds like it will be yummy!! I'd maybe turn it up to high for a couple of hours if I was doing it... But only because I always worry about not eating until 10pm lol... I think it's about 6-8hours on low and 4-6 on high depending on what you're cooking... But then I've only used my slow cooker twice since we got it :o so maybe someone who knows better might pop along and tell you...

Sami, Choppy and all those with minky cookers that aren't admitting to it... Magic sponge scores about a 3.5... I found it kept draging over the greasy parts but the plain burnt on came off quite easily considering... I used a bit of washing up liquid to cut through the grease in the end...

If you have a receipt then it's always worth a try... They might just offer to send it off to be repaired rather than replaced though...
