    Hi all,

Am just catching up with all the posts....

Clare Jones - well done on the NVQ.

Elle....massive hugs to you. I really hope it's an error for his kidneys and also that the MRI doesn't show anything else. You have all been so strong for little Rhys and, yes, you still need to be strong for him BUT it's fine to collapse and cry and shout/scream every once in a while.

Way to go on the weight gain Rhys!!

How was your first night in your bed?

Caz - Happy wedding anniversary! Well done on the house honey. It sounds just what you wanted. The woodburning stove sounds lovely.

Yay to Tigs and Andrew on the increased milk.

Krystal and MFD - have a fab time today. I'm not meeting my friend until 2pm, but I wouldn't have been able to drive up to you, drive back and then meet her at 2pm. Deffo count me in for the next one though!!!

OH yes thanks Chopsticks for reminding me of the other thing I meant to comment on, which is Caz that is SUCH great news about the house :) it was clearly meant to be, falling into your lap like that (and just in time for your anniversary too :) ). My OH is so incredibly jealous that anyone I "know" would be moving into a house that big and with a wood-burning stove!
  • Morning!

Bed was lurvely ta :) Worked out we hadn't slept in it for almost six months what with moving to my parents before all the work started in April :o

Cannot work out how anyone comfortably co-sleeps though.. I can do it whilst holding him and sat semi-upright on the sofa, but lying down in bed I just don't get it. Don't particularly want to - like my space too much! - but please can someone explain what position you co-sleep in, just for my curiosity? Can feed lying down, just not fall asleep in bed with him afterwards

Oooh, forgot to say, we had a BRILL night here last night. Caitlin went to bed at 7:05 with no dummy. She fell asleep herself and we didn't have to go up to her at all. We went to bed about 10ish (we've been really tired as she's had us up loads every night this week) and next thing I knew it was 4:10. I heard a couple of noises from her over the monitor but she was dreaming, then she woke both OH and I up at 5:20. She was awake and making noises but I didn't want to go in straight away as I knew that if I fed her then, that would be her up for the day. Next thing I know it's 6:30 and DH's alarm is going off, so we all had fallen back to sleep. Caitlin woke up just after then.

Funny that she managed to go the whole night without a feed, but the previous night she wanted one at 1am

So, was the good sleeping last night due to:
    a) going to sleep without her dummy (this wasn't intentional, she just didn't whinge for it, so we didn't give it to her. Some nights she'll whinge until she gets it.

    b) having a big sleep in the day (sleep really does breed sleep with Caitlin). She slept from 7:15-7:45 yesterday morning then from 10:30-1:30 (with a couple of wake ups that re-inserting the dummy sorted).

    c) mummy forgetting to turn over the sleeves on her sleepsuit. She had cold hands when I went into her this morning (bad mummy - I didn't even notice when I crept in to kiss her before I went to bed) but I wonder if she settled herself in the night by sucking on her hands. She's started doing that quite a lot now in the day time. Also, on several mornings she's had soggy fabric (the bit that turns over) where she's been licking/sucking it. Maybe it's the fact that she can suck her hands instead of fabric that's helped?

Answers on a postcard please :D

So how does it work then? Cos Lilia would deffo cry if I didn;t feed her when she wants, so how else does it work? I'm genuinely curious cos I don;t understand how else it can work except by leaving them to cry.
I found that the majority of the time she didn't request to be fed before the next time it was due and as I said, if she did I either gave it early or gave a "snack" feed (around ten minutes - however much was needed to keep her happy) to keep her going till it was due.
How would you tell your OH you are going on holidays with the not real internet girls ??
My OH thinks we're all weird anyway. The other day he said, "I can imagine an MSE parent club gathering in the north east. One person would say, 'I walked here' and another would be saying, 'I hopped here.'"
Are all of your freecycles still called freecycles ??
Ours has been renamed to Freegle as apparently we are steming away from the US freecycle as they are getting rid of volunteer admin people and putting their own people in !!
    The Durham one is Freegle.

They've just got a "blood mobile" visiting work occasionally and they use Rhys as motivation for everyone who can to give blood :) (he had to have six blood transfusions) They won't take my blood ever cos I'm on medication for life :(
I've given up trying to give blood. Between the fact that the first three times my iron was too low and they always have at least two hour queue and when you make an appointment they cancel it I deicided it wasn't woth it. It's not their fault about the low iron but they could make it a little bit easier.

I quite like the whole geek thing, it's been my way of redeeming as an adult something I got teased for at school :o:D. The fact that I have friends now who seem to geuinely like this part of me makes me happy :)

I'm not sure if you like it, but I think it's great :)

Wow, six months. Bet you'll be glad when the work is all finally over!!

DH and I were dead set against co-sleeping. This was just our personal opinions though as we were (and still are to a degree) terrified of rolling on to the baby or baby falling out of bed. I know it is extremely unlikely but it scares me so much that I don't think I'd actually be able to get to sleep.

Having said that, now that she's here, I can definitely see how lovely it is to have your baby in with you and why people are so pro co-sleeping. It's definitely changed my mindset at bit. I bring her into bed with me in the mornings to feed, and on weekend mornings when DH isn't at work, we all lie in bed for a little while talking (well, DH and I do) and giggling (mostly Caitlin!)

Sorry, that totally didn't answer your question Elle. Just thought about how I've changed my mind a bit on co-sleeping since Caitlin's been born.

Oh, and another benefit of co-sleeping is that you have your very own baby-sized hot water bottle. I love her snuggling into me when I'm feeding or holding her. She's so lovely and warm, so if you co-sleep, you'd have a permanent hot water bottle :D
