Laptop Advice (Dell or Sony?)

I think then that she will be forced to have a Dell as they can offer better specs for the budget, which she will need to run Sims 3. My experience of Sims 3 and how much processing it needs to run playably is greater than the Sony mentioned by the OP can offer.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

can anyone answer my processor question (last post)
Also how much extra would you pay for a 2 year guarantee, rather than a 1 year?0 -
No OS X comments its not called for she's asking about SONY AND DELL.
Here we go again. Firstly stop SHOUTING, secondly your grammar isn't improving.
Thirdly, no one mentioned OS X. (Many top end Macs can run Windows faster than dedicated PCs.)
The OP asked about quality, and you might have a Dell and think they are wonderful (I've hundreds in one of my offices so I can comment), but top quality they are not, especially compared with: Levono (easily the best quality PC brand) Apple (best for OS X, but also fine for Windows), and Sony (a close third). However Dell are good value, I've had many Inspiron and Latitude laptops with very few issues.I have a Studio 15, its great, just avoid having Vista. Dell are doing free upgrade on the 15s to Win 7 too Thats a recommendation to any Laptop you concider. XP is much better..
XP is certainly not "better". XP may well be faster than XP, but then Win 3.1 screams along compare to XP, but is anyone running it today?
Vista is fine on good laptops, and you'll get a free upgrade to Win 7 too from most retailers. People telling you to downgrade to XP are missing the key point that it's old now, 2 versions behind currently technology, main support is already finished, extended will be gone in a few years, leaving your new laptop open to security threats. I might need to run it for certain client projects, but I'd not recommend a new home user having it.
Buy from a quality retailer like John Lewis and get a free extended guarantee, they'll also price match other stores and online ones with retail shops.0 -
