Laptop Advice (Dell or Sony?)

that sounds fine for the stuff you need it for.
under 'Operating System' it will either say XP, Windows Vista etc. Most laptops come with vista now so the main thing is never ever get one with vista home basic. Always make sure its home premium or better.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
ok so the sony is fine as its premium!?
You mentioned that the graphics card was "internal"- is it possible to upgrade this. Or would I need to too play SIMS on this model?
You are all being really helpful- I definatly appreciate it0 -
The model you have given us details on will be perfectly fine for what you want it for. As its made by sony it will be a good build quality too. Dont worry about the internal graphics card, they are all internal! its not a bad one either so it'll do the job.
Yes the sony has Vista Premium so its ok. It basically means it comes with loads of features whereas the basic version comes with hardly anything which forces most people to upgrade. You'll be fine with that one :-)MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Disagree with the graphics card. The card will not run Sims 3 efficienctly enough you will start to pause alot as the game progresses. I get pauses at fast foward with my P8600 4 GB RAM and 512 dedicated ATI cardSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

I'm using my third Sony Vaio, currently VGN-FZ21Z, and would recommend Sony highly. My first Sony accidentally fell on the hearth and, although the lid hinge was damaged, the laptop still kept working.
My current model has 2GB memory and 250 GB hard drive.
I usually keep them around three years, and they haven't let me down yet.
Make sure that it is insured though.
Good luck0 -
if there was a problem with the game playing CAN i improve the graphics?
Also does anyone have a particular retailer they woudl reccommend?0 -
If you have the option to upgrade with sony product before purchase, I don't know. Dell you at least custom it. to what you want it for.
Sony do a close match to yours with a faster processor and ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3430 for £609Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -

does the "processsor" make much difference
specifically is a T4200 better than a T3400
or is the SONY VAIO NS30ES better than the NS20E
i think most of the other stuff is the same between thse two but cant seem to find anyway to do a direct comparison0 -
It cost over £800. Cheapest price at the time (around 18 months ago) was PC World.0
