thanks purplebuzz. Maybe you're right as alot of people have already 'presumed'. Doesnt matter either way as i still get the information i need and i dont feel its any harm done to them…
You might find helpful answers to your posts dropping off now.JennyI'm not bothered if you personally offer me advice in future. Most of the posts recieved have been very constructive.…Please dont respond again unless its on topic. I'm after advice on housing not a debate on posting etiquette.…I have valued all of the constructive opinions given so far and have thanked them using this sites system. Unfortunately im not in a position to give out sexual favours/candy or a shoulder to cry on so anyone seeking love and affection will have to do without.
Thanks again0 -
The difference it makes is that some people on here will not be as willing to respond or offer advice in future.
Oh, and it makes you look like a troll.
There are a number of reasons why the OP may have worded his post as he did if you think about it.
Maybe he wanted impartial advice not clouded by peoples perception of him or his situation.
Oh and to notloaded above, Most people post on here as a hobby probably as they have nothing else to do so I don't see why you are getting so precious about "their time"0 -
I don't care either way, just agreed that yes his wording looked like he was the seller. Maybe if he posted as a buyer, people would have reccomended what they'd need to convince them to sell to him, rather than the people offering more?0

I know what i would need to do in order for them to definately accept which is why that isnt a question i have asked. My question was: which would you accept given the circumstances of the seller and 2 buyers.
I'm not in a position to offer more money so im banking on the fact im a FTB and im a man of my word. I wanted to know what my chances are but without any bias in a response so i didnt disclose which buyer i was.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
They have no way of knowing you're a man of your word, they just know you're a FTB who can't afford as much as the other guy. So the question would be is the hassle of a chain worth £5k?
EDIT: And the answer from me would be yes, as to me £5k is a lot of money.0 -
you're right. Its the conclusion ive also come to as its what i would also probably do. Still i'll wait for the phonecall and keep those fingers crossed!MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0

I think I must be the only seller in the world who is not enamoured of FTBs. My OH's house was sold to an FTB and they were a royal PITA. Not having owned a property before, they were spooked by really general statements in the survey, even demanding we knock render off to confirm there were lintels over the windows (as the survey had said it couldn't confirm there were). They visited far more times than were reasonable in my view (3x on their own, 1 with one set of of parents, 1 with another set and then started ringing for yet more visited BEFORE exchanging for measuring up everything under the sun!) and went through a spell where they dragged their heels because they were getting cold feet.
These days it's not even certain they'll get the full mortgage offer so really the only advantage of an FTB is that they're not in a chain....but then neither are cash buyers or investors.
With all that in mind, as long as the chain looked solid I'd go for the first offer.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Cheers for that opinion. I know what you mean, if i hadnt previously researched just how rubbish surveys can be then i would have been the same! When its the biggest purchase of your life you are always overly cautious and when surveyors add in comments to cover their own backs it just scares people. Luckily i know the general survey comments and if unsure i'd probably ask on here if it was something to worry about rather than hold the process up.
Excellent view though. ThanksMFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -

I see forums as an exchange of time and knowledge. I don’t mind giving, and I’m always glad when others can help me. However, I don’t expect people to be in any way deceptive.
Maybe we should just agree to differ and OP can see, as time passes, what it has achieved. It’s quite clear it’s hacked off some very helpful long-time posters on here.telfordwhite wrote: »…probably as they have nothing else to do…0 -
