Microsoft "persuading" sales people to push MS products

I'm shocked! Does this mean that, from now on, when I go into PC World, I'll no longer be oppressively and relentlessly urged to buy Apple kit instead of Windows gear?
:rotfl:
Let Microsoft keep the ill-informed, the impressionable, the false-economists, and those too lazy to do proper research before they spend hundreds of pounds investing in something that will be integral to their functionality in the modern world and will hold all their precious data. These deserve all the hassle and further expense that will flow from it and the more of them who do so - and, thereby, continue to keep the efforts of malware perpetrators firmly focussed upon them - the better, so far as I'm concerned.
One of the reasons why Mac owners are so loyal is precisely because they are the type of people who are intelligent, curious, questioning, independently-minded, lateral-thinking, diligent in their research before making important decisions, investigative of alternative solutions, resistive of peer-pressure, abhor false-economy, have the courage to buck the trend if there is merit in doing so and are appreciative of quality, efficiency and excellence.
I, for one, appreciate being part of a community that embraces those values and am grateful that there is a powerfully active alternative force that attracts those who don't. It spares me the irritation of their intellectual companionship (except on here!) and Apple is prospering extremely well from it.
Always be grateful when there's a pub further up the road that sells cheap, lousy beer, plays loud, bad music, serves overcooked, fatty food and draws in all the people you'd prefer not to have to eat and drink with.
(Especially if there's also a holistic nut-cutlet bar opposite it, that accommodates the earnest teetotallers who delight in free water.)
But hey! It's worth looking into the vulgar one occasionally, if a good band is doing a gig there, and reassuring yourself that it's still just as bad. You might even get a bargain price on a decent bottle of wine that the landlord bought by mistake and his clientele don't appreciate.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Not decent news as stated above. Just business.0

Ironically, that's why I don't have an iPod.
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Thats what I thought so whats the point of this article if true. Its like saying right we want you to convince people to buy windows even thought they have no choice in the matter so your efforts will be wasted here have a free copy of windows thus forcing you to keep with us and not download linux lol.
Of course they have a choice in the matter. Apple have rather large retail displays in Best Buy stores (like Currys, in pretty much every way) here in the US for instance:
which are always crowded with people oohing and aahing over the Macs. For the price of a copy of Windows 7, Microsoft is attempting to "re-educate" the sales people to recommend Windows PCs.
It just seems very under the table to me. Especially the part about recommending a cheaper computer so the customer has more money left for the salesperson to con out of by selling less than useless extended warranties and the like.
If I were a hardware vendor, I'd be !!!!ed at Microsoft's constant attempts to compete with Apple on the basis of price, not by lowering their own prices, but by trying to persuade people to buy low cost, low quality, low profit computers, rather than high cost, high quality, high profit ones (regardless of brand).
And someone needs to tell Microsoft that, provided they can make a product that's good enough, every Mac user is a potential Windows user. They'll just have to pay Microsoft the full retail price for their copy of Windows, rather than use a heavily subsidised OEM copy that came with their computer.
On the whole, it doesn't seem too shrewd to me.0 -

Quite so. And nor do I.
You are the canniest of buyers, Fifer, and I always watch out for your gems of sound counsel amid the shoals of dross on here.
(I've never forgotten the mild scolding you gave me for writing that Ethernet cables consume "no" energy!
