Can a card issued to an under 18 be used to buy age restricted products?

I heard that banks don't like gambling transactions though...
Also, some banks T&Cs mention about a bank can refuse to approve a transaction if it's dodgy or for whatever reason.
Banks have absolutely no problem with gambling transactions if the account is managed well.
Banks rightly have issues when accounts are mis-managed, whether the the money is spent at the bookies or Tesco !
Refusing a transaction is possible of course, but not in the context this thread is discussing.0 -
It is easy for a website to check someones age in this country there are plenty of pieces of software available, it just depends whether or not it is implemented.0

Apart from asking the user their age I'm not sure I can see how a website can check someone's age - unless they only accept credit cards, but even then someone under age could be using their parents card.
As for using cards to buy stuff when you're underage - I buy 18-rated DVDs from Amazon all the time and I'm 17 ^.^0 -

I'm not so sure that's the case. I've two reasons for saying this. Firstly as a staff member I was once refused a loan (actually a reduction of a previous loan) on the basis of having gambling transactions on my account. Even when I asked the sanctioner to work out my winnings over the period she was looking at it made no difference. I now keep gambling on an account away from my employer.
Secondly it seems to me that accounts with a high volume of debit card transactions & refunds (usually gambling related) seem to get flagged for closer attention and requests for loans/overdrafts are more likely to be refused by the computer.0 -

It was on Click on BBC New 24 that I learned this. There is some way of entering your card number and the bank verifying your real d.o.b. The only issue is it costs and so not all sites have it.0 -
found a link to site that provides the service:

Indeed I agree with this.
Play.com refused to send me an over 18s DVD once because of my age on debit card.0
