Hello Matt,
Thanks for your response aswell . . .
The extra bits of information i have added, is some additional things she has asked me to inform you all of as she is on the phone to me now, Shehas asked me to add that info to see if it would help at all with anything.
I want the letter to sound not too soft otherwise they may say sorry you're not having anything, goodbye etc . . .
But on the other hand like you say i dont want to sound too harsh, demanding, bossy . . . .etc
Im off to get some sleep now, however will check thread for new posts in the morning, good night all :-D0 -
and as all these dates are so close you need to get the letter in the post for tomorrows.... Would hate for the refund to be undecided so close to your departure date as you might end up not going and with no refund! The Head Honcho (does very little work)0

It looks like your nan will only get back 10% of what she paid for the holiday so might as well just go on it.
The hotel might be fine, and if it isn't your nan should ask to be moved immediately, before she unpacks. Unfortunately she can't do much about it being hurricane season apart from hope for the best.0 -
If this was booked in branch, I would not bother with a letter, I would go into the branch. A letter may not be looked at for another week (or more).Gone ... or have I?0

Unfortunately I don't think she will get anything back apart from 10% of the cost if she cancels in time.
If she made 3 different amendments after the initial booking then 3 lots of amendments fees will apply, regardless of how it was paid.
If she has had to made 3 amendments and it was only booked 2 days ago, it sounds as if she booked it in a hurry without full consideration or research.
Perhaps if you post the destination and hotel someone can check the reviews as see if they really are bad enough to warrant cancelling or at least changing accommodation.
You can normally change accommodation for an amendment fee, but I don't think you can do it this close to date of travel.0 -
I should think the very best you can hope for is being allowed to change to a different property.
Why don't you advise which property you are worried about so that others can offer their opinions on the reviews you are so worried about - it often pays to read between the lines rather than take them at face value.0 -
Im afraid you havent got a hope in hell of getting a refund. I think your only chance is to swap accommodation but this will probably incur charges. The only thing in your favour is they told her it wasnt hurricane season well if it is they lied but can you prove this you'll have to ask for the recording of the conversation. As Luci says post the hotels name and destination and maybe someones been who can reassure you. Dont believe everything you read on trip advisor alot of its crap written by people who have a grudge with the tour operators over ridiculous things. Im not being rude but if your nan made 3 amendments within 24hours was she really the right person to be booking the holiday, why didnt you or 1 of the others do it.0
