How Many CCs Did You Have At Your Worst???

Just wondering how many Credit Cards you all had when you were at your worst Debt moment, pre-lightbulb?

I had never had a credit card before but when we bought the house nearly 3 years ago I got sent a few letters saying I had been "Pre-Approved". I always applied for them thinking I'd never get them so imagine my surprise when I did! :D

Well before you know it I had managed to get myself 3 storecards and 5 credit cards  with aprs between 12.9% and 30 odd % And they were all maxxed out too!

Have managed to do some shuffling and snowballing so far and got rid of the highest apr storecard onto a decent BT rate and I'm working away at all the rest. The good thing is that I've had 2 replacement cards in due to others expiring and I've not even taken them off the letter never mind signed them :rotfl:

I'm so chuffed to now be bringing them all down and working towards cancelling, still wonder if I should keep the best rate card as an "emergency" but don't know if I could trust myself!

Over the years we have had 6 credit cards and 5 store cards. We now have 1 store card and 2 working credit cards and 3 with debt collection.

More worrying is the fact that if we'd spent up to the credit limit we would be over £30,000 in debt from these. Then we had 1 loan, 3 catalogues, I've had 3 student over drafts, plus Oh's over draft. Which would bring the total up to £38,750. Thank god we didn't go mad and spend it all.
Then add the £3,000 in student loans which are deffered so I am ignoring, thats £41,750.

I used to have 5 credit cards but no store cards.
ive now got two credit cards with about £500 on each.
my plan is to get rid of one and keep the other & pay it off in full each month in the hope of improving my credit file :)

It's frightening really isn't it, thankfully have now seen the error of my ways and next time I apply for a credit card it'll be because the deal is worth it for me, not just because they might actually give me it :rotfl:

when I finally came to look at my credit file a few weeks ago I realised I had 5 credit cards, 2 store cards, a next account and a freemans catalogue account... most (both store cards, 2 credit cards, next and freemans) had nothing on them and were just ones I hadn't got round to closing but still... added together, a whopping £25k available credit...
:money: 2007 is the year to clear :money:

I've never had more credit cards than i have now!!! I have seven! Six hold our current credit card debt at low APR, the seventh is our credit card to finance our wedding and is 0% until January 2007. Before I only had one and OH had two. We took out more so that we could clear OH's high interest credit cards, we then phoned up the CC companies and negotiated for lower interest if we shifted the debt back. I used an Egg card to pay off a consolidation loan of OH's. The 0% runs out in August by which time it will have been paid off. Obviously as the debts are repaid the cards will be cancelled, and we'll just have one card with a good cashback scheme in the future.

    Credit cards aren't all bad!

3 credit cards, 3 store cards, an overdraft, a loan - highest APR was Barclaycard at around 18%....

    I'm so proud :p

I do have a credit card now, but pay the balance every month and havent paid a penny in interest since I've had it, if anything I pay it early each month!! I have no urge to spend on it unnecessarily, so I suppose I can safely say that I have learnt my lesson!!
