ending T mobile contract and porting number to new T Mobile contract

Hi all,
My current T Mobile contract finishes in a bout 2 weeks, I want to cancle this and take a new one out. This is because the handset I want is not offered by T Mobile, but is available from mobilephonesdirect.co.uk on a new T Mobile contract.

A sales rep at onestopphoneshop told me that I would not be able to keep my number even if I first transferd it to PAYG with a different operator and then transfered it back, because he said that T Mobile would be able to tell that the number was a previous T Mobile contract numbner and block the transfer.

Is he correct? and if not which is the best PAYG sim to transfer the number to and then get another PAK to transfer the number back.

Many Thanks

Rubbish. Port to another networks payg, get the new contract, port back. Networks can't stop you porting its a requirement that they let you. People do this all the time, no problems...

The Orange rep said on here a few weeks back that you can port into Orange in the morning and ask for your pac in the afternoon, that sounds your best bet.

thanks for the reply, wonder why i was told different by onestopphoneshop?
What sort of timeframe is it to actually have the number transferd once the PAC code is given to the new provider.
  • All mobile phone companies are required to transfer a customer’s number within 2 business days of being asked to make the switch.

2 to 3 working days. The temp number on the new contract will be active until the port goes through.
