It's illegal to do any of that.

    1. You dont own the content to re-broadcast.
2 If you connect any sort of tuner to a tv you need to pay another tv licence.

    this is definitly not true.
1- I am not re-broadcasting any thing.I am only watching on my PC as you watch freeview and that is covered by the house TV license.
2-Actually TV licensing authiority used to exempt people from paying TV license fees if they can prove that they watch foreign channels through satellite and not British channels. I my self had this exemption for 3 years before I decided to give it up and start watching some UK TV programmes.

I was asking for technical help so please do not show your ignorance by giving wrong legal information.

It won't help - satellite uses DVB-S, while Freeview uses DVB-T. The two aren't compatible.
The RF out from a satellite box is simply the decoded video from the satellite used to modulate an RF signal (usually around channel 36) which an analogue TV can tune to and the digital broadcast standard is irrelevant. That is assuming the box actually has one still as it's all very old hat predating the common availability of scart connectors on TVs (which of course are now old hat too :) )

my computer is only 6 months old with freeview TV card and very good specs. ...any ideas please?

I had assumed that your TV card was digital & analogue - mine is, do digital only cards exist? Have a look in Device Manager, Hardware to determine the make/model of your TV card and report back.

Yes - unfortunately that little confusion is down to me. I don't know for sure that there is any chance of the card being freeview only but as the poster said Freeview rather than TV card I thought it prudent to check it worked before investing time and money running a coax only to find that it didn't.

    Sam,

As your PC is only 6 months old, I'm gonna take a chance and assume you have Vista...

If you have Vista Home Premium or above, then you can use Windows Media Centre to watch your satellite TV through your PC.
If I've got your TV card right, then I'd forgo the Coax connection and use a SCART output on the satellite box, along with a SCART adapter and use composite cables to connect it. It looks like you've probably got composite audio and S-Video on that card.

Then you can program MEdia Centre to view all available channels on the decoder, and if you have a MCE IR receiver and blaster, then you can even program it to change channel and record for you.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
