I hope this is the right place to ask but does anyone know why my TV screen is turning green when we watch it? it started with a little at the top but now half the screen is like this. Does this mean we need a new TV?

Do you have any speakers near your TV?0

lol Marty I know where your going with this. is it a CRT screen I not think you get the same with an LCDSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

Is this an old style (NON Lcd) TV ?
If so it may be that you have something close by which is highly magnetic, eg speakers underneath - on top ? something metallic, perhaps a tray on the top etc
If so move the speakers / item farther away.
If you find the offending item, and remove it, it may take a few days to clear - ensure that you do not leave the TV in standby, switch it off over night as when the TV is switched back on, a circuit inside the TV will put ou t a field to help what magnetism is on the front of the screen reduce. (called degaussing)0 -

Thats only in new old CRTs, The old old CRTs just take longer and if its a really old old CRT then it was probably green to begin withSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
thanks for the replies. It is a flat screen TV about 3 years old. There are 2 small speakers nearby but they have been there since we got the TV. We never leave it on standby.Do what you love :happyhear0

Assuming that by 'flat screen' you mean it's an LCD or plasma screen, rather than a flat screen CRT, then...
1: Have you checked that all plugs / leads (especially scart cables) are correctly inserted, with nothing half hanging out?
2: If they're all OK and the proplem's still there, then chances are your screen is goosed or there's something wrong with the processor. Either way it's going to either need professional repair or a replacement.0 -
If you are watching from an external source like a sky/digi box and its not internel then check all wiring/ scart cables to make sure they are ok. I had a problem like this but my screen was turning red. Turned out to be a faulty scart cable0

thankyou for this, we are watching through a sky box so I will check all the cables.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
I've checked everything and still no difference unfortunately, it is now green and pink in the top half. looks like a replacement will be needed but thanks anyway for all your help:TDo what you love :happyhear0

I still can't see whether or not this is an LCD TV (less than 6" deep) or simply a flat screen CRT TV (probably a foot or more deep).
The problem certainly sounds like it is being caused bt a magenetic field near a CRT display. Removing the source and turning the TV on and off a couple of times should clear it as a TV only 3 years old will certainly have a degaussing circuit.
Alternately can you see a UFO on your lawn?0
