I've got a spell checker in firefox, but only because of the awesome API, driven I suppose from the fact that it was a linux project originally, so had open source in mind when it was designed.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

As far as I'm aware, Netscape Communicator/Navigator/Pheonix/Firebird/Firefox and wherever else it's ancestry lives was always cross platform.

Indeed…Firefox is descended from Netscape (a cross-platform broswer), the code of which was only released under an open-source licence near the end of its lifetime.

Shame it's a point that nobody gives two hoots about

Face it, the only thing keeping firefox in the running is that pointless add-on system and a false sense of security. When you look at it close enough, it's not a good program at all.

Care to justify that? I find the add-ons far from pointless. For example, with a multi-page thread, I have an add-on which automatically loads the following pages and displays them below, so that I can scroll down continuously. Same for google searches and the like.

Certainly something that you seem to have great difficulty in doing judging by a significant amount of recent posts

    What addon is that?
