Out of Hours operation (8pm on a Sunday night) to knock out dog and stitch throat (two long cuts 2" and 1", windpipe showing, result of dog fight) £30.01
Removal of stitches (again sedate dog she nearly had the vets fingers) £5.00
Castration (different dog) £50.
So all in bill for three visits:- £85.05
We are so lucky with our vet.
Out of interest what would this cost down south?

Thats some good prices I think im gonna move to scotland and join ur vet
Heres and example of what my vets cost
Ollie drank some dirty water down the park that made him cough and sick... he wouldnt stop so i took him to the vet (normal hours)
The vet gave him a jab of AB's and told me to bring him back in the afternoon for an xray to be sure nothing is inside, but when I took him back they said he looked a bit better and didnt think he needed the xray so I paid £65 and away I went...... Until...
Later in the same day he got worse so I called the vet again and they said it was too late to take him there, so take him to the animal hospital they kept him for a few hours (i left him there) and they sedated him done a xray and camera in the throat... nothing in his tummy but throat was a bit sore so they gave him metacam and I took him home... £400!!!
So in a day £465 thank god I had insurance0 -
nikki, I think my vet is cheap compared to yours - Badger ate glass on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago (a jam jar had smashed and she ate the jam and some glass as well!) ... the vet estimated £500-£800, but it cost me £480 in total for the following, which I think, considering it was all over a weekend, so out of hours, pretty good...
....an x ray - they saw a large shard of glass and said it was best to operate straight away, so she then had...
an out of hours operation to open her stomach and remove the glass, and to check her intestines for damage
a further x ray whilst on the table to check for any more glass,
a three day stay at the vets for observation,
a course of painkillers, antibiotics and antacids,
a checkup after three days at home,
another visit at ten days after the op to remove stitches.
She also came home with half a dozen cans of easy to digest dog food.
I think, for the amount of work done that was pretty fair, and Badger is back on top form now, and still loves going to the vets!0 -
yes...a West Coast of Scotland vet would be a whole heap chepaer than a Central London vet! but i much prefer to live in london
let's see, today's estimated bill is going to £800 for the following:- day-stay
- full blood tests
- general aneasthetic
- fluids
- biospy (with possible removal of 'lump')
- chest x-rays
- anti-biotics and consultation from last week
thank god for insurance.0 -

I did the London thing for 5 years, loved every minute of it but wild horses wouldn't drag me back.
Now when the hell is this blasted rain going to stop........it's been raing here constantly for over a month.........:(0 -
I've been in to my vet God only knows how many times with a cat with megacolon - there have been a few visits when he didn't charge me at all, and I was even given medication. I am not sceptical, but I think that this is a mixture of kindness and excellent customer care. I have three cats who get whisked to the vet at the first sign of anything. He's had a lot of money off me these past five years, so I think that overall he has more than met his costs and made a profit despite the occasional free consultation or treatment. This is small town N.Ireland. When I lived in London my vet there was more than happy to charge megabucks, and offered surgery (££££££) before medication (£) for my cat with hyperthyroidism.0

Mutt out of hours Sat consultation and antibiotics, Monday operation to remove tooth (plus additional optional blood tests), and (presumably) the follow up in 3 weeks - £248 (Midlands)
Not sure if it's covered by the insurance, but after deducting the £105 excess and 20% off the remaining bill, and taking off however much for a quick teeth clean, there's not going to be a lot coming back.
How much for a well sterilised piece of string and a door frame? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
On Saturday, I paid about £73 for 2 cats to get their annual vaccinations & for 1 of them getting a worming tablet.
As Ginger, decided he wasn't going to co-operate with the vet & me, to get the worming tablet. Considering that he was extremely chilled out before & after that event.
So, the vet gave me another one to take home & to give it to him via his food. Which usually works with him0 -
FC I read what happened to ur dog and it make me laugh (the way it all happened) and I think it was 2 days later with Ollie im sure it was my punishment for laughing ....
I wasnt laughing because the poor dog ate glass iykwim :rotfl:0
