AVOID HMV - NO REFUND POLICY!

Quick hide, it's the forum caretaker!
If you want to rant about HMV, and let's face it there are many reasons why you would, what difference does it make whether you do it in an old thread or start a new one? If I were the OP I'd be more p!ssed at my friend for giving me bad advice but I'd have thoroughly researched beforehand the best 'phones to get if I was spending that amount of money on them.
Wow .... never been called the forum caretaker before ... is it paid .... where should I claim???

Read the post above.
Everyone else, do some ^&*%ing research before you buy something, then you won't need a refund or exchange.
Science of the rocket it is not
my post was written almost immediately after the OP post, but I took a call ... so took a while to post ....
The simple fact is that unless the goods are damaged, then you are not entitled to a refund.

Do you meant faulty?
I doubt HMV would refund me if I ran over the DVD with my car.0 -
Jesus. Would you stop categorising people so much? It's as though you've read some pretentious book that you don't understand, and want to repeat some of the phrases used to try and sound smart. You just look like a dumbass.
You've clearly got some massive chip on your shoulder with people that work at HMV. You make derogatory comments about them. I can see exactly what's happened here. You've walked into a HMV shop, purchased some headphones. You've given off a snotty, I'm-better-than-you-because-I'm-a-superstar-DJ vibe, and they probably just think you're a !!!!!!. You called up for a favour (that you weren't entitled to) and they've just been like "yeh it's this pr1ck on the phone who thinks we owe him one massive favour because he kept our business afloat. Want me to fob it off?"0 -

Besides, if you had read properly what I wrote in my very first message you would have noticed that I explained how another second person looked at the specs rendering the first persons advice as wrong.
Even if my first pal was incorrect I still did not know at that time that HMV had stopped doing refunds (on any non DVD/CD goods) for about 2 years now. You would think they would want to attract the non piracy customers among us.
I'm in my late 30s and since a little boy have shopped loads with HMV edinburgh (damn, a few mates and myself practically kept their Vinyl department from constant threat of closure in the old Princes Street branch back in the late 80s/early 90s because we had an aquaintance who worked there and would especially order in shed loads of underground electronic music vinyl for our club nights/same assistant was even responsible for persuading Jeff Mills to visit and do a day show there - ironic how shafted I/We feel now - the phones may have been for me but we are a recording collective, shaft one of us and the ripple effect occurs!).
My point being is that I have always been a loyal and good customer and refunds were always fine as long as the item was unopened/perfect/within time, regardless of it being a mistaken buy, etc (mostly everywhere 'does do' refunds for unwanted perfect/receipt holding items these days). Plus, as said before, that assistant had no right to make me feel like a 'no mark' over the phone when I was consistently pleasant back!
I was maybe niave in not letting suspicion and cynicism rule me and perhaps thinking HMV would still have had the same returns policy as when I last shopped with them a few years ago (I would have been shopping with them for the last 3 years if I had not been living outside the UK on & off until recently).
Overall HMV should better explain their return policy on the receipt and perhaps have it on a sign in the doorway seeing that their particularly greedy way of treating people is not the norm for the UK and certainly not the standard I feel is good enough for a so called civilised country. I would have understood their zero tolerance attitude if it had been a CD/DVD with the seal broken I was returning for an exchange/never mind refund. I do understand that many people have hurt HMVs business with piracy (but unopened incorrect H-Phones bought 1 day ago? Come on now!)
Lastly, perhaps if their management/staff were more interested in not performing, dressing and acting as unfriendly as Alexa Chung/Jack Whitehall (highly unoriginal smug cool 'pretend arty' IT types) and wearing those neck breaker ID badges that look like roadies passes (which their name is very hard to see on BTW) and acting like certain people are no longer cool enough to shop there because of the way I or others dress/being an older laid back dude, then maybe they would actually make more money by being a more inviting place to shop (which would probably help them lower their 'Harry the Basta*rd' prices). Even the very yawn-ish Republican donating ASDA has a better electrical/media returns policy and usually friendlier genuinely nicer staff and they could actually be quite crap to every customer if they wanted to be and still make huge profits because everyone will buy from them always because they are a supermarket and they slash prices constantly, whereas if real life HMV (not the movie High Fidelity as it fancies itself) keep mainly employing rude staff who model themselves as hipster 'too cool' types who value image over good service then they will def' probably suffer greater before long. Griping over. Good day.
Also, we don't need your life story. Get to the point and stop trying to sound cool. Tbh you sound like a 50 year old trying to re-live your twenties by being down with the lingo. You wanted a refund, you didn't get one, simple. No need to kick off at the staff, do you think they choose to wear the name cards like that? No.0
