I was given a set of three stainless steel saucepans when I got married in 1962 and I still have all three although I have lost two of the smaller ones lids .They have been in constant use for the past almost 48 years I have no idea where they were bought but I would recommend S/S to anyone.Mine have copper bottoms and even if I burn anything in them ( usually spuds if I don't watch them) I just throw a handful of salt in them and fill with cold water and leave overnight and they come up brilliantly with a bit of elbow grease next morning. My DD says when I snuff it she wants them as they are so hard-wearing, she's got a long wait though0

I also recommend the Stellar pans. My 12 yr old commented today on how sparkly ours still look and I realised they are about 2 yrs older than her
They cost a lot at the time but have been amazing value for money.

liz545 please can I ask you a question about your Swift pans? Do they have any rust marks on the bottom?
The reason I ask is a few months ago I bought a couple of Swift SG pans like this...

I wanted them to replace my very old Prestige stainless steel pans. I was very pleased with them but shocked when I noticed rust marks have appeared on the bottom of the pans and around the edge where the bottom part of fixed to the body of the pan. They have been through the dishwasher but are dishwasher safe and this never happened on my old pans. I suppose I should contact Swift but I don`t know what they would do if anything. I had planned to buy more of these pans but haven`t bothered until I sort out this rust. I will email them next week to see what they say.
Just interested to know if this is common thing with Swift pans.0 -

I have these. I was going to get the Le Cruset steel ones, but something put me off them, I think they may have had steel lids (or maybe steel handles).
Anyway these are quality steel pans, with glass lids & nice rubber coatings on the handles so you don't get your hands burnt.
On offer too!
ETA the Le Cruset have steel lids (no see through) & steel handles (get hot), I thought that quite poor for such expensive pots, thats why I went for the Circulon.
I LOVE Le Cruset cast iron & enamel though.0 -

No probs - mine don't have any rust on them, but the ones I have don't have the rubberised handles, mine have metal handles. I'd definitely contact Swift, it can't be right for them to be rusting so quickly!2015 comp wins - £370.25

For saucepans, I'd go for stainless steel rather than non-stick, because the non-stick coating can sometimes flake off into your soup!
From what I understand, hard anodised saucepans and frying pans aren't a coated pan. So there's no 'non-stick coating' to flake off.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024
