How come it also says on eBay:

'You cannot retract the bid during the last 12 hours of the listing, unless the seller agrees.

Please contact the seller to request that your bid be canceled. However, it is up to the seller's discretion whether or not to cancel your bid.'

We all need a break from time to time. Especially with Ebay, its not like a shop that you can pull the shutters down at 5pm, ebay is 5am, 3pm, 10pm......right around the clock!

I've not had a break from eBay for near 6 months

Good news is I am having a good break from it in a few weeks! :T

One last quesiton for tonite......Can I put something up for sale and offer a discount if the potential buyer has something to trade?

    example

I am selling a mobile for £100, the seller offers me another phone plus £50 and I accept. Is this legal? Is there a way round it, e.g. mentioning it in the description?

It's wrong. I bid on something the other night and was talking at the same time  and instead of entering a maximum bid of £17.50 I entered £1750 with just a few minutes to go.
I immediately became the high bidder at well over my £17.50

So I retracted the bid. Then to comply with the T&C's I re-entered my correct bid of £17.50 even though I new that the current high-bidders proxy was well over this.

If you bid in the last 12 hours then you can retract that bid within an hour (I think it is an hour) or making it, that would cover the extra nought type bids.

No you can't, it would be deemed fee avoidance.
