  • You will probably get more or a response if you email them as they never seem to answer their phones. It really pee's me off when they drag their feet and moan that there are too many cats in rescue! Its no wonder people go out & buy them.

Please dont give up you would make an ideal cat mom! Some rescues are clearly bonkers lol :)

I still haven't heard from Cats Protection. :( She discussed all the requirements of a cat on the day, the standard patter, and then went through which particular cats might be available so I did think I might have passed. I would imagine if the answer was no she might not want to say that while sitting in my flat in case I went off on one, but I would have expected to hear by now. I rang earlier and left a message, but forgot to leave my number again. Don't want to keep ringing in case she thinks I am a nutter.

I have already contacted the two most local rescues and they didn't have any suitable cats, and I also think if one place thinks I am not suitable maybe it's not fair to have a cat here.

You sound perfect to look after a little furry friend!
I am sure they will see that. They might have been so busy they have been unable to call you back.

    Fingers crossed!

:j I passed the Cats Protection homecheck! :j The lady is doing another visit for an indoor cat at the weekend so wants to place specific cats after that. I am still hoping for Fox or Noah, as she did say Noah was OK with laminate just not rough flooring.

Thanks everyone for your support, I will keep posting as I have more news (and do lots of shopping! :o).

  • Well done on passing the homecheck!

I'm sitting here typing with an ex Cats Protection cat asleep (and snoring) next to me in my office - you're doing a good thing for yourself and your future cat!

If you live on your own, it may be worth considering a 'troubled' cat as so many people are looking for pets that get on with children, dogs & strangers etc. The ones that have a few issues can take ages to re-home.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

    oh what fantastic news :j:j:j
"I am an insomniac, so I was really excited when I was able to get a full night's sleep. I said to a friend, 'Just keep your fingers crossed that I get lucky again tonight!' Realizing what I said, I tried to correct it and said, 'No, I mean, I just hope that I get some tonight!' After that, I decided to shut up."

I have said I am willing to consider any cat in principle, and the cat is likely to have a health condition which precludes them from going out. I would be completely comfortable with an older cat, deaf or FIV - but a bit wary of partially sighted as I am just not tidy at all. :o Certainly Fox isn't suited to children, and both him and Minka say they can't be with other pets.

My aunt has a very timid rescue cat that strangely loves me (sniffs my shoes and lady bits ) and I previously had one that took a few months to settle so I would be fine with that. The shy ones seem to end up very loving once they get used to the new environment and new owner.

  • Can't wait to hear an update on the moggie situation! I agree that timid cats can often form the strongest bond with their owners and make fantastic pets with just a little bit of patience ( well patience, and lying flat on the floor peering under a bed or cupboard whispering sweet nothings whilst waiving a variety of cat treats! )
  • oh congratulations!!!! So happy for you!!!! :)
