The CPL wouldn't let us adopt a cat as our house was too close to the road

They should have let you know there and then. The other option is the RSPCA or another local cat charity in your area.

FF: Anyone who likes cats as much as you do must be a very decent person! Hope it goes well, I've been a CPL supporter for years & whilst they are sometimes over-cautious they (sadly) have reason to be... and they are a charity with lots of other pressures...

I still haven't heard from Cats Protection. She discussed all the requirements of a cat on the day, the standard patter, and then went through which particular cats might be available so I did think I might have passed. I would imagine if the answer was no she might not want to say that while sitting in my flat in case I went off on one, but I would have expected to hear by now. I rang earlier and left a message, but forgot to leave my number again. Don't want to keep ringing in case she thinks I am a nutter.

I have already contacted the two most local rescues and they didn't have any suitable cats, and I also think if one place thinks I am not suitable maybe it's not fair to have a cat here.

if they do say no then don't feel that you can't have a cat
