    i love my cranks cookbook ive had it for more years then i can remember the pages are yellow with age and the binding is falling to bits its stained to high heaven with old curry spices and god only knows what, i should really seek out another copy, but its memories are priceless

    Ah, but the scratch n sniff cookbooks are the best....

    I have Home Preserves from the Marks and Spencer range circa 1976 on permanent standby. If you are counting the number of recipes from one book actually cooked then this is the one (even beats Bero on that score). I tried to buy a copy for a friend who has started bottling etc and found the cheapest copy on Amazon was £10 which is an impressive price for a 30yr old softback book than can't have been more than a couple of quid in its day.

    helyg - the book is actually called 'welsh country cookery' (why i thought it was favourite welsh recipes i have no idea! LOL plead senior moment there) its by Bobby Freeman and the isbn number is 0 86243 133 6. will toddle off a mo and see if its still in print - its a fascinating read as well as having great recipes.

    back - the book is available new from both amazon and w h smith. And i have just discovered that she has also done one called 'welsh bakestone recipes' ! I am in line to inherit my nans bakestone - my mum has it now - welshcakes dont taste the same cooked in frying pan!

    yes thats it! I paid 2.45 for mine back in 88 or 89 i think . the bakestone one was on w h smith site and is priced at 1.95. the new one is £3.95 and worth every penny!

    Its 24 years old and looks like it! I always go back to it, no pics, but the recipes are always reliable.
