'Remember'' say you 'choose' Atlantic at £25 each month=£300 per year
you get back £25 free into your account on the 13th month+ £17 from energy linx site [total cash back £42] 'To me though' a total of 3700kw hr per year seems a too low an amount How do you keep it so low? Remember British gas states 6% fixed below its standard rate until 28th february 2011 this means it could go up or down with its standard rate [not really fixed] Atlantic fixed rate August 2011 [B]stays[/B] at that rate

'I hope the above helps you' [Atlantic have good customer relations]

Thought I would 'take the plunge' and change to Atlantic but on Energy linx site no Atlantic at the top of the table, British Gas websaver5 and then OVO, don't understand, on other comparison web site Atlantic second on the best buy tables.. any help please?

    Atlantic do not have to be top of the table because {this does not matter depends on variables}

    Your statements
[[I read my meter every month so I know what I'm using.
I pay EbiCo £34 per month at the moment]]

So your cashback from Atlantic would be £34 at 13th month ''if British gas or Ovo show a figure saving over £34 ''then they are cheaper'' using your £34 per month your figure [If they do not save you more than [£34] then Atlantic comes out the top] Whether they show 3rd does not matter they would still come out cheaper and their fixed rate is for a longer period Remember the British gas rates can go 'up' or down depending on their standard rate as it states in their agreement Ovo stays fixed as does Atlantic

Atlantic doesn't show at all on energy linx site... well may well down the list, I didn't go down that far, but on other comparison sites it's 2nd and I didn't understand why

Well my date for being supplied by Ovo was today but they haven't asked for meter readings and I'm a little concerned that British Gas with whom I have elec with haven't contacted me about leaving. Atlantic with whom I have gas with have so that part was obviously progressing.

Has anyone who was changing to Ovo got any news?

I was supposed to be switched on January 1st. They wrote and asked me for a meter reading on the 4th although they had warned me in an earlier letter to take one on the switchover date. I supplied a reading but have had no confirmation that it was accepted. My old suppliers took their direct debits on the 1st and so did Ovo but, as I was paying off a deficit, I wasn't surprised that they both took money. I'll be contacting my old suppliers to find out what is going on though.

    Cheers

    James.

i too was given switch date of January 1st, sent in my meter readings and heard nothing. Both old supplier and OVO took DDs this month so tried to contact OVO. I have had no replies to my emails and both their phone numbers are out of order.
    Has anyone switched succesfully recently?

Mine went through smoothly in December, they took the dd on the date they said they would, after i'd supplied readings. No problems. Not had to ring them so unsure about the phones...
    :heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:
  • My transfer to OVO appears to have gone smoothly. My DD quote is alarmingly low, so will keep an eye on it. Don't suppose they will have a problem with me wanting to increase it! Had a final bill from Atlantic saying that they owed me and not to cancel my DD with them to facilitate repayment. You guessed it, they then took a further payment from me! Doh. On the whole Atlantic have behaved well. They did offer me a better deal, but after I'd commited to OVO, so there's a big tip here, if you're with Atlantic, it might be worth checking with them before switching.

I switched to OVO on 20 Dec after a process which started end Oct. The problems I had were not with OVO but the meter database and Southern Electric updating a meter on the database.

For me a high electric only user of a listed building with no double glazing the switch was a no brainer. Southern electric tariff 12.1p normal meter for 27500 units per yr + 8.45p off peak (storage heaters only) 18,000 units per yr to OVO at 8.61p for everything. I have had the off peak meter disabled and use oil filled radiators on a timer instead (much more controllable). Savings will be about £1200 per year. Recent calculation from same period last year shows cost as £13.60 per day down to £9.09 per day.
  • OVO? So far, no problems, and I'm happy with their service.
I switched to them in October 2009. There was a slight glitch with the changeover, caused by EDF, but it was easily sorted out with a couple of phone calls.
The DD was increased by £10 a month, but I'd planned to do that anyway with EDF ready for the winter. The amount of the DD will be adjusted during the summer after the fuel usage pattern has been established. So far, I'm in credit so hopefully the DD will be reduced!
I'm happier paying the standing charge than the two-tier pricing used by the other companies as it makes the bills easier to understand. It's also going to save me money!
OVO send a bill each month via email and it's clearly set out. (EDF's meter reading and billing practices were a contributing factor in my defection!)
