New Gas & Electric Co. "OVO Energy"

I'm trying to find someone who will change the meters for free.. hoho.
Try EDF or Southern Electric, they are fairly good at changing meters for nothing..
As far as Ovo is concerned, I've been with them since 1st of June, one their variable rate tariff.
So far I've been impressed, really like the way they bill, the bills are clear and easy to understand. No stupid discounts either...Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Hopefully I won't regret starting switching from E.On to Ovo Energy for my electricity tonight (after much comparison site comparisoning and knocking up a spreadsheet to compare the most competitive tariffs against my likely usage). It was because I got my online bill today then decided to check the tariffs and found E.On Track and Save 9 Economy 7 Electric is being massively hiked in price on 7th Sep (critically a 27% increase in the Economy 7 night rate, from 4.6767p to 5.9493p per unit, which will really affect how much it costs to heat my home over the winter as that is what Economy 7 is all about).
Ovo have a fixed rate deal for 12 months which is almost as cheap as what I am on now (based on my usage), and whilst there is a £30 early cancellation fee, I can't see prices falling below the current (pre-increase) levels within the next year. I am somewhat wary about switching to a company I'd never even heard of before tonight, but hopefully there won't be any problems. And I might even eventually get £15 from the switching site as I used the MSE link once I'd decided which supplier and tariff and comparison-site to go with
That 27% night-rate E.On price hike on their Economy 7 Track and Save is pretty nasty it has to be said, especially as it kicks in in early September just as it starts to get colder.0 -

ditto for me - initial paperwork seems to be laid out well, so hopefully the transfer and ongoing billing will too. Cashback from energyhelpline tracked quickly.0 -
How much do they charge for KW electric? & daily standing charge on meter? I noticed that SSE have put their daily meter charge up to 25p ish per day!!!0

Unfortunately I'm on a laptop I'm not used to and can't open the link - I'll have to wait until we return home0

Looking at that link it appears the standing charge is the same all over the country - £66.15 a year - 18.12p per day (or thereabouts)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Just managed to open PDF - certainly looks promising as a supplier. I just realised its the gas that is 27.9p per day standing charge, and electric was, in Jan 8.20 so quite a difference.0

Ditto for me, spent the last two weeks doing just that and am an expert now on excel spreadsheet:rotfl:.
It was down to two OVO and EDF 12 months fixed plans. ...my dilema was between OVO being a relatively new company V EDF's bad customer care reviews and the lengthy account setting.
But after a good thinking session today lookslike its going to be OVO. one thing to watch out for though, (from what I read in different reviews) is the way they manage direct debit where they up it as they see fit.0 -

Yep, EDF Fixed S@ver v2 was one of the other two I considered, but decided against as it was a bit more expensive. At the end of the day, if a supplier goes under, you won't be cut off, and whilst it is sure to be inconvenient for a while, you shouldn't lose out in any way.
I'm not too bothered about DD variations, as one of OVO's things I read is you get paid 3% interest (presumably APR) on any amount your account is in credit. That's more than you'll get from many bank savings accounts these days!0
