thankyou for your reply angie, i can't stop thinking about this, its driving me mad :S if its a case of criteria changing why the hell did our housing officer who deals with mortgage rescue not tell us about this rather than keep us hanging on?..... anyway we have been all through the rigmaroll of CAB and debt lines and such and this is why we qualified in the first place with this scheme! My partner spoke to a couple of different people at moat but only breifly to ask about the valuation date. So Moat used to buy the houses and are not now then?....mmpf well they asked Orbit and Hyde HA and both turned us down for offers on house. I just don't know where this leaves us now... the council will help IF we are repossessed as my youngest has just turned 15 and will be staying on at school after 16. I just really hoped that we could of stayed in this house, when it was on market it was upsetting at first but then resigned to the fact we were going to move, after all this i am going through exactly same thing again...well will ring housing officer in morning (if shes there) but from the very start she has been a bit distant about it all and we've felt like we've had to push her and remind her about us! It was them what told us about it in the first place...anyway i am ranting now so will go and try and enjoy some sunshine, its hard to take mind of this though :( i will post tomorrow thanks x BTW there have been a couple of other rescues in our area...

All may not be lost yet! If any of us on here learnt anything its how the facilitation of the process is seriously flawed, alot seems to depend on who is dealing with your case and how prepared you are to really badger things along and not take no for an answer!!! Wrong i know but countless hurdles come up with this scheme, or you are given misinformation, or you have to pull the relevant agencies together as communication between them all can be severely lacking. It feels like an endless struggle with all the pressures of worrying about pending homelessness .

Moat bought our home and I as I understand it they are still buying homes under the scheme, I was only trying to explore reasons as to why they referred you on to other HA's??

Of course you want to stay in your home and it seems crazy why after all this time you are suddenly told they won't purchase it. You should get your answers tomorrow hopefullly from your housing officer, or maybe go direct to Moat too, and ask them? Sadly not suprised you have felt on your own with this and I really do feel for you.

hi angie, i've been out but could'nt help not to come on here for replies! thanks. I really do hope H/O gives us some hope tomorrow, and i really don't know why Moat themselves are not buying, i read on another post that from march this year the MRS has undergone changes as to how much they offer you for your home - 90% instead of 97%....this would leave us a shortfall of mortage 2 (unsecured) and mortgage 3(secured) but if we have been kept hanging on this long and applied before these changes it doe'snt seem fair to change in middle of things!! also they have told councils to hold off applicants who are less priority than others, this maybe why our H/O is somewhat blase. We have court arrangements as said before for mortgage payments and this means if we miss any they will evict us in no time, this is why can't pay other mortgages (robbing peter to pay paul) also have dependent child....oh i wish it was next year already and everything might have been sorted whether here or not :( its just the not knowing, but then saying that i thought that this time last year it would be all sorted out by now! I just think we are going to get fobbed off and she will tell us to sell house! which really is'nt an option as there are about 6 houses in the immediate area for sale and none have gone, and its not a bad area, think we would be better off getting it repossessed and then going bankrupt....i just want it over with. Just sad, have even contemplated living in a caravan if house gets repossessed! until council decide they can help us. Oh this was'nt how it was meant to be, i had dreams.....>:( thankyou for your support angie. jay

Just spoke to H/O and have appointment to see her tomorrow(tues) well she breifly said that H/O Orbit and Hyde are not buying in our area so she said her council will have to pull out of scheme, so anyone who has MRS going through in Dover District is bu**ered! OH spoke to Moat and they have said that our property was'nt financially viable??!! (within limit and not in bad con') so they want profits then...... i thought this was about helping people not making money according to goverments website!!....anyway roll on tomorrow and see what options are.:(

hi there, well we went to council, no help really about situation unless we are made homeless, advised us to go to shelter to see what they can do, also see if they can get any answers from Moat as to why our property was not 'financially viable' even if they are using half of the money from a goverment grant! OH was really asking a lot of questions that council could'nt answer to do with money side of things, and why was Moat even involved in this area when anyone around here don't stand a chance as even if we where viable they have got no maintainence teams here!! arghhh.....so shelter phone call coming today.....hopefully....if no help there then we will be on the councils doorstep when we got no home. sorry for rant but if anyone is reading this in the Kent area going through MRS don't pin your hopes to it being resolved. Jay x

Oh no Jay :( not wanted you needed to hear eh!

Let us know how you get on with Shelter. Hoping you can find a way forward with it all and wish I could be of more help.

I know when the scheme started money/grants were available to the HA's to bring homes up to the decent home standards. Im guessing that availability has been cut/lowered?

Really hope you get some answers soon. x

    Hi all,
I have not been on here for a while since our failed MR attempt...........another long story!!
Since then I have explored all our options, had great advice from Shelter and CAB who encouraged me to lay our cards on the table with lender. They have been great and suggested that we apply for their Assisted Voluntary Sale (AVS) scheme. They pay all estate agent and solicitor fees in an attempt to sell house at highest possible value rather than allow a repossession (lose/lose scenario).
I was nervous about this, as did not know how much control I would have, but the process so far has been great. House valued by surveyor and 2 estate agents (of my choosing), and the house went on market yesterday !! Unfortunately having bought house at peak of market 6 years ago with a 125% mortgage (I know......idiots!) we will still incur a shortfall, but hopefully it will be less than £10K, rather than the potential 30-40K if repoed. The mortgage lender has hinted that they may wipe the debt, although not holding my breath on that one. We have 5 months to sell the house, and once an offer has been accepted (I have final say) will have 8 weeks to move. So we are halfway to saving for a rental deposit, and although am nervous about renting (reference checks etc) I think that this is the most positive thing that has happened to us for a while:D.
The only thing I am unclear about is how our credit file will be affected with a AVS on it. But as we are potentially going to be BR in the next few years then that is just a small thing to worry about!
So fingers crossed we get lots of viewings and a speedy sale, as am due to have a baby in October and don't really fancy moving then!

Just wanted to update people on here as have had such great support and advice on this thread, and although MR did not work out, this solution may be just as good if not better:D.
Not as silly as I was thanks to MSE:)

Can I ask that everyone who has problems with the MRS puts it all in writing and sends it to their local MP.
The more people that do this the more they are going to have to look into this and any of the many other government backed schemes.

I have lost my house but I am still fighting GE with the help of my local MP and anything that makes life harder for these companies is a great thing, we need the government to start asking questions about the figures supplied and to start taking an interest, the only way to do that is to make sure they know what is going on and how it feels etc
