Well I've waited a very long time to write this post..... WE'VE COMPLETED - IT'S ALL OVER! And Angie, how weird u shud ask me in ur post dated 21st cos that was the day! We found out late afternoon and its been a whirlwind since so hence me just getting on here now! I think I feel a bit like u did tho - not sure its sunk in....I keep telling people how happy I am etc but its just words but every now and then I get a real pang of excitement in my belly where I remember that the last few yrs of struggling have finally come to and end! I still worry a bit cos Steves work isn't going brilliant at the mo but we now have a bit of money to tide us over and BOOK A HOLIDAY - first one since our honeymoon 6yrs ago! We have HA comin round Wed morn to sign tenancy agreements and chat everything thru so that'll prob make it seem more real too!
Really hope everyone else is all ok and plans r going ok, Sillygirl - ur next best plan sounds good so hope ur still ok and preg goin well in this heat!
Thank u to everyone (esp Angie) on this Forum who've kept me going....I've badly needed ur support over the months and its made me feel less alone in this terrifying journey and stopped me from going under!
Right I'm off to carry on enjoying this lovely sunny Easter weekend!

Thanks Angie! Yes it certainly was a fight and probably the most stressful period in my life so far but had no choice bit to keep going I guess and the reward at the end makes it all worth it! Having a bit of equity money thru has been lovely and we've booked a much needed holiday - 1st one abroad since our honeymoon 6yrs ago, ha! But apart from that, the feeling of security now is the best thing ever! The lady from HA came round last Wed to sign all the tenancy agreement/paperwork with us and explain where we stand as tenants now etc....and despite us losing the title to our home, we now feel really safe and looked after - after having mths of feeling so alone and insecure in this huge process....and this time next yr we'd have completed our first temp yr and have the same full rights as all other tenants. There is even a possibility we could swap homes with my parents who live 5min down the road in the family council house I grew up in as they don't need a 3bed house anymore but I'm in no rush to move cos we fought so hard for this place and love where we live, albeit a 2bed maisonette - but it has large rooms and a large garden so for us and our 4 and near 3yr old its fine!
I still keep getting hit by pangs of realisation that this process is now all over and we're staying, this is still our home - regardless of who owns it - I really don't care about that! My faith in buying and owning ur own home has been shattered, I feel so much safer renting!
Anyway, think u can hear how pleased and relieved we are! Really hope ur all doin well and anyone reading this who's contemplating or half way thru the process can gain strength from our success stories!
THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN for ur support and advice, its been my crutch!

hi all, i have read your posts with interest, its took me a while to find forums about this and i opened a new thread but think i'm going to join this one! ANYWAY to cut a long story short, we went to court last year (may) for repo' came to agreement to payreduced rate plus some off the arrears, btw its an interest only mortgage and if rates go up we are in more trouble! meanwhile we have 2 other loans/remortgages that we no longer could afford to pay and that what got us into trouble with 1st mortgage....when we knew we were possibly going to be repossessed i contacted council after a while someone told us about MRS now this was in jan 2010, well Nov2010 after lots of phonecalls to council they applied to Moat who after couple of months sent someone round to value house, after couple of months we contacted council to find out why we had'nt had valuation back...well about 2 weeks ago we got it, they valued it about 10/15 grand under what 2 estate agents valued it for (we also had house on market 2009/10 without any offers) also in letter they said they had approached LHA who were unable to purchase. Friday just gone we received letter from Moat who have now told us that after approaching another LHA who also were unable to buy they can no longer help us continue!!!??? now i feel like my stomach has turned insideout. We are going to ring the housing woman who has been (slowly) helping us, but i just wanted to know if anyone has come up with this? sorry i did'nt really cut that short did i? thanks jay0

Hi jay
Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.
As you know I have been through the mortage rescue scheme alongside a few others on here too, however I haven't heard of this situation you are up against before!
I dealt with Moat, but I am not sure why they have referred the purchase to other Housing Associations??? I know Moat are fairly widespread over the south but I wonder if your property is in an area where they don't have other Moat homes? In which case it would make sense as to why they are involving other local HA's? But this is purely guessing on my part
Another possibilty maybe, your rescue began through the HA in Nov 2010 and there has been a tightening of criteria since April 2011, Im wondering if this might be relevant to you as well??
I think your best bet is to speak to the housing woman you have had contact with tomorrow and try and get some answers. Is the woman a council housing officer or is it your contact within Moat?
If its a case of you are no longer eligible for a rescue then you will need to find out all your other options regarding the house and I am wondering if you have spoken to Shelter for advice?
I know with our situation if the rescue had failed we would have had to rely on our local council to house us.
I am sorry you are facing all this, it really is a nightmare and I wish I could be of more help. Good luck and keep us updated. Someone else viewing this thread may have some suggestions for you too, I really hope so.
