. Well a week Tues (14/12) we'd have had the valuation, meeting with RSL and the RICS survey all done (hopefully no cancellations/snow!) so we can only pray that it wouldn't be tooooooo much longer after all that, that we'll find out if all's well - if it isn't then I'd prefer to find out after xmas thanks, ha!!

Keeping everything crossed for all of us xxxxxxxx

  • Hi Angie,

Well we had the lady come from HA last Fri and she was very nice and sympathetic to our situation and said she'd have no qualms about us being tenants under their HA so that was good.... RICS survey done yesterday - he said he was sure he wouldn't find anything untoward and didn't so that's good!! Still gotta have a visit from HA to do 'decent homes' survey - which I'm guessing looks for quite basic things - ie got a bath, sinks, boiler etc??? If this is the case then I'm sure we'll be fine on this one too..... the only thing we're still waiting for - and is the most crucial - is this blinkin evaluation!!!! It's been 1.5wks since it was done so why should it take so long for them to get back to us/HA about it??!!! I contacted the guy at HA who would receive this (he deals with the financial side of things whereas the woman deals with client side of things!) and he said he hadn't got copy yet but would email me as soon as it came in and lady said that we should get a copy anyway.... so kinda waiting for post/email every day to see what the result is and how this affects us in terms of eligibility for mort-rent..... fingers x it'll be soon!!! We've been told no decisions will be made before xmas anyway so in a way that's good cos wouldn't want any bad news before then.... so it'll be a New Year with new changes.... lets hope they're for the better ones!!!

Hope you're ok and enjoy a stress-free xmas - well, in terms of money at least!!!

  • Fingers crossed for you here as well H! Although it sounds like its going smoothly so far anyway :)

Hope you all have a great Christmas too

    Hi H

Thanks so much for updating and I do understand you're frustration at waiting for the valuation to come in!! I think ours took a couple of weeks if I remember rightly! Im really hopeful for you with this rescue, its all sounding very positive. And hope you have a great xmas too :A

Im ok, thanks for asking :) As for christmas we have nothing spare money wise, just not had chance to save anything apart from a little amount of cash for my teenagers, but I have accepted that and am looking forward to making the day special and fun without it costing anything.

Have had a rough ride recently with my son he's 17, so the focus is on helping him get better and giving him all our support to help him overcome what he is going through. I know my parents are giving us some money for xmas, so we are going to use it to redecorate his room and make it really nice for him :)

As for our mortgage rescue, there's not much to update. I still havent heard from the HA regarding the major building works, so no doubt that will be scheduled for some time next year. Alls going smoothly on the renting side and I have found moat to be very helpful and approachable with any queries ive had.

For anyone out there considering the mortgage rescue scheme please get in touch, there are a few of us now on this thread who have either completed or are in the process, so if you need advice or help please just ask.

I hope you have a great xmas try and focus on the new year new start xx
If you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j
  • Thanks for all your replies, very much appreciated!

Angie, really hope you can give your son (and your other teen!) a happy christmas and it helps him to get on the mend.... like we've said before, family and health issues far outweigh money ones in the end, eh? Our 4yr old boy has just been diagnosed with very mild autism... it doesn't change who he is or how we already deal with him (and most of the time he's just a normal, gorgeous and funny little fella!) but has left us uncertain about his future - so far so good as he seems to have counteracted a lot of his behaviour thru learning by himself the "right" way to do things but it's just not knowing if it could get any worse at all..... it's one of the main reasons we need to stay where we are as I just don't know how the massive upheaval of a house move would affect him - plus we're in the process of picking his school and don't even know if we'll still be here by next Sept??!!

Anyway, trying not to focus on that at the mo and like you've all said, things are positive at the mo so just gotta go with that and enjoy xmas - I've become an absolute pro at putting problems on the backburner at certain times to ENJOY LIFE amid all this chaos, ha!!!

So hope you all have a wonderfull Christmas and I hope I can come back and bless this thread with some more positive news in the new year!!!

  • Hi all, hope you all had a good Christmas and Happy New Year - well we all hope anyway!!

Just a little update on us.... I had to chase RSL but finally just had the last visit required before it's decision time... today we had our 'Decent Homes' survey done - as far as we know there isn't anything that could amount to more than £20k worth of work but we've learnt not to assume anything in this game!

We were told we'd require 4 visits to the property (valuation/structural survey/TVH officer to see us/Decent Homes survey) and then reports from all of these would be looked at and a decision made. I asked our contact at TVH (she seems really nice and helpful) last week if she knew what might happen and when cos the living with the not knowing, timeless timescale is soooo hard!!! She told me that once the survey had been done (today), it would go to the financial guy who liases with Legal and then lets us know.... but that didn't really answer my query as to WHEN - so I asked her again today and she said that the survey from today will be written up by the end of this wk and we should then hear within the next 3 weeks!! So pleased that we now have at least some idea... switching off from it this week cos know we won't hear anything while the reports are being written... but from next wk and after I'll be expecting to hear any day - I'm assuming by letter (offer letter or bad news letter?!) so I'll be watching out for the postman every day... then wondering if it's got lost in the post.... then wondering if I should hassle them again.... aaagghhh - and so it goes on!! So hopefully we should know either way soon..... good or bad news, just NEED to know!!

Angie (or anyone else?!) can you remember how long it was for you to get your offer letter thru after everything had been done?!

    Hi H

Great to hear your update. In answer to the above, we waited just under 4 weeks for our offer letter, however that was held up because of a problem with building regulations which took me just over a week to sort out! I think your contacts estimate of 3 weeks is fair.

We got a phone call from our RSL to say that we had been accepted and an offer letter would be posted out, that came 2 days after the phone call.

I remember the agony of waiting only too well so all I can say to you H is just hang in there, you are sooo close now after all this time. Crossing everything for a positive outcome x

Once you get the letter you will have the cooling off period of 8 days and a chance to get independent financial advice and appoint your solicitor (costs all covered by the RSL).

Please keep in touch, and let us know how you get on. You are so close now. You need massive strength to get through this scheme and ability to pick yourself back up after every knock back and carry on. And from reading your experience I can see why you have got this far, well done hun :)

Thinking of you and hope to see an update again very soon :A xx
