Whats wrong with putting IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera install files on the hard drive and letting the user choose what one they want to install?

Why not send it with a browser and then if someone wants to change it they download their alternative and uninstal the one they don't want. Or we could make it more difficult for the non computer experienced like your suggestion.

Those that are IT literate will replace whatever is installed automatically with their preference while someone who isn't doesn't care and just wants to get on the internet as they are used to.
  • All that trialware subsidising the laptop makes sense but why do the manufacturers do things like acer emPowering technology and HP wireless assistant, they aren't easier to use than what's already built in to Windows and don't add any extra functionality. Surely that just costs them money to develop/maintain? I guess it's just to remind the user what make their laptop is?

I use Dells thingy at the top, as it cleans up my desktop shortcuts, The Laptop is fast and so doesn't hinder its booting up.
