You're missing some things from your SOA:
    • Water bill (meter or rates)
    • Gas bill (if you have gas)
    • Insurances - contents, buildings, life?
    • Any travel costs - do you have a car? If not, bus, taxi, train fares?
    • Clothes, haircuts - even saving a bit each month for that inevitable time when you need a new pair of shoes or winter coat.
    • Optician / medical costs - do you get an eye check or the odd prescription here or there?
    • Savings for xmas / presents
    • Any subscriptions - gym, magazines etc?
  • Landlord pays water rates, don't have gas, haven't got any insurances, don't have a car and I walk everywhere- easy as I live in the centre of town, haven't bought clothes in AGES!! Haircut would cost £19, work pays for eye tests, prescription is £6.65 every 2 months, for xmas my boyf and I are saving £2 a week each as you can see from my sig, no gym membership or magazine subscriptions either. Phew!!

Are you getting your single person discount for Coucil Tax?
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
  • Yup!! Got that!

  • I think once my exams are over in 5 weeks time I'm going to sort through everything I've got and sell what I don't need/use/want anymore and get some extra cash that way.

What's better, eBay or car boot sale?

What kind of pet are you insuring? Is it an old animal? I self insure my dogs - ie put the money in a separate account each month now have an emergency fund of £1800 - my biggest ever vets bill was for my old dog (now waiting at the rainbow bridge) for £1000 which included the vet hospital fees.
Do this and the money is there if you need it & more importantly still there if you don't (not in the insurance co profit account!)

I think this is a good idea, my mum has had all 3 of her dogs insured since they were puppies. The eldest is now 10, and he recently needed some treatment for arthritis. The insurance company wriggled out of paying for it, because she had made a previous claim for arthritis. Touch wood, none of the dogs have had any major health problems, the largest vet bill has been £400. Had she put the money in to a seperate savings account, she would have had a fair bit of money put by, instead of the insurance company profiting from it.

Both i think, depends what youve got. Books, amazon or green metropolis for those? Videos, dvds, vinyl - bootsales, trinkets like vases, etc Bootsales unless they are antique. Tip, know what somethings worth. then youll know if something (LIKE a top) is "worth 50p" dont list it on ebay as it will cost 35p to list it.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • That's a good idea, might just get rid of it all at a bootsale one weekend.

I'm assuming that I'm pretty much ok with my SOA? just to carry on as I am and just to get some extra income from selling if I can?
