Egg don't want my money

Anyone else having problems trying to open the 3.25% savings account with Egg ? I have been trying for 3 weeks via 2 online applications and 2 long telephone calls and have given up. It seems that if there is something in your application (eg name or postcode) that doesn't match their records then you are doomed.......................

I applied for mine, got told they needed further information then got an email saying it was fine. So in 30 mins it was up and running with money in it.0

Indeed, but organisations increasingly rely on 'systems' which has all the addresses loaded into them in advance, and if yours doesn't match then it throws up a problem.
Every single organisation I transact with seems to think I live at Flat D but I can assure you its always been Flat 4.0 -
They seem to have the same database that Tesco Direct has. It seems to have a completely random (and inaccurate) knowledge of which buildings in my street have flats in. I wonder where it comes from.0

@ hanwellmike - did you see that first entry in the Egg list that seems to offer you some degree of customisation?0 -
This has been mentioned in the forum a few times before. In my experience of opening accounts with lots of banks/BS I only had the problem with Egg. They seem to have no humans only computers which can't understand that Flat D = Flat 4 etc. And indeed there are all sorts of versions of the postal address file.
In the end I managed by changing my address online to the version on my utility bill but that was after 3-4 weeks of having stuff sent back.
EGG DO NOT WANT YOU if you live in a flat.0
