Selling N96 to Mazuma, right thing to do?
Last October i foolishly got a Nokia N96 on an 18 month contract. The deal was £45 per month as the phone had come out that week and i negotiated free unlimited internet access and free satnav.
After having it 12 months already i dont ever use the internet on it and only need the satnav once a month on average. I also send roughly 1 or 2 texts per day and my phonecalls are always short and sweet (less than 1 min).
I realise im paying for way more than i use which is why i checked some of the phone buying companies. For my 12month old phone Mazuma is offering £150!
Should i take this deal and get the cheap nokia for £5 including £5 of free credit on PAYG? How would i go about ending the contract or reducing the cost of it and using this other really cheap phone.
As for the satnav i plan to buy one from the money i will sell my phone for. Then i wont need this silly gadget in each phone i buy which will allow me to get cheap contracts in the future with cheaper phones :-)

You can cancel the contract, you can sell the phone and use the money for line rental and termination fees, take the sim and plug that in a pay and go phone.
But if you get a cheap pay and go, doubt if it will work with satnav and internet all that well.0 -
Im not bothered about the internet or satnav on my phone anymore. I'll get a completely seperate satnav unit.
Thanks. Looks like i might do this!MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Rougly I guess you have 9 months left on your contract?
9x45 = £305 (rougly your termination fee I guess).
Just continue paying the contract - sell the phone to pay the line rental and at month 15 you can downgrade your tariff.
Use the sim in another phone.
If it helps I had the n95 8gig - I got £145 from mazuma only a few months back - now they offer only £115 (cash) or £126 (argos vouchers).
You could get more on ebay for the phone but you end up paying fees to ebay and paypal - might not work out too well.0
