  • DD2's work experience boss backtracked last night - she doesn't have to work today because the salon would be too full!

So she is happily pushing out zzzzzzzzz's upstairs....

BUT she told me of an incident yesterday that made me grit my teeth! The salon is on the ground floor of a building. i'm pretty certain the boss owns the bulding and is landlord to tenants in the upstairs flats....

The first floor flat is reached by a fire escape at the back of the building...and yesterday somebody was struggling up this fire escape with a big heavy suitcase.......

now the boss is 6' and quite broad - i would imagine he's reasonably strong in a blokeish way IYSWIM.....

DD2 on the other hand is 5' 2" max - she can't reach the washing line at work to get the towels off!

So what did he do when this person was struggling with a suitcase yesterday....did he help them himself??????

Naah - he sent DD2 to struggle with this suitcase on a fire escape!:mad::mad:

  • Morning all.

The great advantage of living alone is if you decide to switch on tunnel vision and pull up the drawbridge you can.

However, the assignment got sent off last night so I need to get moving again.

    Plan for today
Return two bags of books to library
Pick up some food en route.
    Run WM
Go into town for Doors Open Day
At some point catch up with thread - in the meantime hugs for those that need them - naturally that includes Lady-L and toots

    Morning everyone,

Was lovely to see LadyL last night, and thank you very much for updating everyone for me. My headache that I had yesterday turned into a migraine in the end, so wouldn't have been able to get online last night if I'd wanted to. Only stayed to dinner at my M&D's for a couple of hours before coming home to bed.

As LadyL said I've survived my first week at school, but am now a mouse with little voice (I have less than when I saw you last night LadyL). My class are extremely hard work, and it is one of the largest classes in the school with 30 children and there are lots of "characters" shall we say. Had loads of extra work to do this week such as long-term overviews of work for the next 6 weeks in all of our subjects, have had lots of work after school doing planning for the week and making resources, and had a PSP (pastoral support programme) meeting where outside agencies come together to discuss the behaviour of a particular boy in my class. I can see that he is going to be a real handful! My colleague and I didn't manage to get our maths and literacy planning for next week done in our PPA time, so she is coming over on Sunday for lunch and then we are planning all afternoon! My Mum said that I need to take a break so that I don't get ill, and I know she is right, but there is so much to do that I know if I do, the work won't get done. We're setting for maths next week, and I've got the bottom set, so will have to get to know a whole new bunch of children, which includes 2 or 3 who can't even speak much English!
On a positive note, on my second day, one of the girls in my class gave me a letter that she had written to me, thanking me for a lovely first day, and saying what a kind and caring teacher I was, which is something nice to keep.

As you may have guessed, with the amount of work I've been doing for school, the flying has gone by the wayside this week, but I've got up early this morning (couldn't sleep in as my body has got used to getting up early) and there is a load of washing in the machine so that I can make good use of the weather to dry it today. I've also meal-planned for the week and made the shopping list and hopefully I won't need to buy too much this week.

Want to change the sheets today too, but little black furry (cat) is nicely curled up on the bed asleep and I don't want to move him.

Off to find some breakfast now and then wash my hair and get dressed. My Mum might call later as my M&D have been visiting National Trust places on Saturdays since my Dad has had that day off work, and I may go out with them somewhere today (depends on where they are going and when I suppose).

Well I'd better get on, as my tummy is growling. Will try to catch up with you over the weekend. I suspect with my workload at school, I won't be able to pop in during the week any more (just at weekends), so big hugs for anyone who has needed them this week, and congratulations, happy birthday etc where appropriate.

    I miss you all!

2 WM on, 1 (last by me!) small load in. Off to town shortlu and I want ALL the washing on the line before I go, because it's dry and warm but not very breezy so not an especially good drying day. All other washing ironed and away.

    BUT
'spare' washing up bowl outside DS's room with his 'tea' things in as he came in at 8 pm and made himself food having been told I would not be washing up after him. Not if he can't be bothered to turn up at a proper mealtime.
His uniform is still in his bag, too. He 'CBA' to get it out when he arrived home at 3.30pm (he came home in PE kit) and then wouldn't get it out later. His football socks (worn to play twice as he missed the wash before) are also unwashed. For reasons of pleasantness they, his shin-guards and boots are all outside too.
(ooh I think I have joined Sarah's mean-mummy clique in earnest!)

Have a good day all, hope Toots and Lady Liberty are doing well!

Say hi to Michelle for me please...I have been wondering about her and hope she's doing well.

I hope that this will be a lesson learned.
Ah see Sexy's posted...you have been in my thoughts this week. Put flying to the back of your mind until you 'get up to speed' and try to kill two birds as often as poss (batch cook; shop online)....and get some support from your OH too.
