Car Tax Disc

Hi I am awaiting delivery of a new Hyundai i10 bought thru the scrappage scheme. I have 5 months left on my tax disc - does anyone know if I can remove this disc to claim the tax back or if i have to leave it on the car? - I ask because the scrappage rules state that the car must have MOT, Tax and insurance.
