Car Tax Disc

Hi

I am awaiting delivery of a new Hyundai i10 bought thru the scrappage scheme.

I have 5 months left on my tax disc - does anyone know if I can remove this disc to claim the tax back or if i have to leave it on the car? - I ask because the scrappage rules state that the car must have MOT, Tax and insurance.

Many thanks

Dol

i took my tax disc off the windscreen and asked the dealer (kia) if this was ok just to be sure, he actually printed out the form for me and stuck the tax disc on it, put it in an envelope and i posted it

It takes about 6 weeks normally. They have to verify that the car has either been scrapped or retaxed.

There is a bit if a debate on whether you are allowed to do this have search on Honest John. But I would certainly be trying it.

Honest John gave wrong advice on the tax situation for scrappage cars.
