Cant buyers read?!

Just sold my VCR - was faulty and didnt get much for it! In my descirption of item and payment instructions I have put paypal only. Guess what?...The winning bidder has sent me an email saying they havent got a paypal account and can they pay by credit card....erm no!! I wanted paypal and I was so pleased I had got rid of the video even if it was for next to nothing! What should I do?

1. Let him pay some other way?
2. Tell him tough?!

if it were me, it would depend if I could do a 2nd chance offer on it, if I could then i would tell him that the auction stated paypal only and that he could open up a paypal account to pay or you will file a NPB and offer it to the next bidder down.

Fraid there wasnt another bidder! Have just sent him an email saying:

Thank you for the quick response (I invoiced and he replied within half an hour of end of item). However I am afraid I dont accept paypal and the only way I would accept credit card is through the paypal account. I have had problems in the past with other methods of payment hence the paypal only stated in my item description!

Will see what he replies to this - he is a newbie with no feedback - he changed his username within the last 30 days too!

Can you please clarify something? you say you only take paypal yet in your response to the buyer you said " However I am afraid I dont accept paypal "

Obviously it is a mistype but you might want to check what you actually said to the buyer.

I think a lot of buyers assume everyone on ebay is running a business. I have had quite a few buyers who have assumed I can take credit cards or can provide any number of the same item.

Hi, I only accept paypal and postal orders or if it is not too expensive I allow them to send concealed cash at their own risk but to be sent recorded delivery.

I always state NO PAYPAL* in my auctions, but every 7 or 8th winner says "Can I use PAYPAL?"

Off topic, but my recent listing got removed as one of the options included was "cash". Some idiot went to the effort of emailing ebay to report this! I didn't even knew this stupid rule came into force.

*eBay own PAYPAL and I just point blank refuse to give them any more of my money for this service. People can pay by bank transfer if they want. I get no fees and don't have to wait for my account clear

    Re: cash:

    You can accept cash, BUT

You can't suggest it is POSTED to you
You have to have alternative payment methods available.

Can't the buyer just open up a PayPal account and then pay you with his/her credit card?

Precisely what I am thinking but I have had no reply since I told him I only accept paypal and the only way to pay me with a credit card is through paypal!
